this worked for me today and my printer had a solid orange light for Toner! You da man! It's printing darker and thicker and much better than it was. I opened the toner thing to see for a part number (not realizing its right on top) and felt it and was like no way this empty, shook it and you can feel the powder. So i ended up here, and it worked! Printer Status light: Solid orange for Toner. Test Date: 9/20/2023 My printer model: Brother HL-L2320D After Summary: Prints much better, with dark thick lines when it was fading pretty bad for plain text prints; the orange light is gone completely, and I bet I have several resets left in powder in these laser printers. it's a shame that Brother does this...

I have no clue why this worked, but I had a feeling something fishy was going on when my home printer suddenly said "out of toner" with no decline in print quality, when usually my work printer starts going faded/streaky when it's out of toner. I wish Brother didn't have to fake it to try and sell more toner, but this tutorial successfully overrode it in my Brother HL-L23000, it printed perfectly again, and was a big lifesaver for getting my last few invoices of the night printed out. Thank you!

On the MFC-L3770CDW I had to go to do the following: Settings > All Settings > General Setup > Ecology > Sleep Time > Hold the * button down until you receive a message asking if Deep Sleep should be On or Off. I selected Off.
