i love the crunch on this one, especially with the gridslammer

The HR-50 is a incredible amp live in the room. over YT it sounds good but live in person standing there! 😱🔥

Honestly best tones I've heard you get yet and all your tones are similar but very decent and sometimes I can hear difference but here's a different one..absolutely great

I was fortunate enough to pick one of those up years ago. I have it on a Saldano 812 stack I think that’s what you’re missing to get the tones that you’re looking for I like the names of my Amp to match their cabinets and those Saldano cabinets are really, aggressive good job

The playing on this video is just incredible. Really great tone too. I think it has plenty of gain

i've mine from 15 years, i eq it the exact opposite for my needs ;-) bass 7, mids 7 treble 4 presence almost off. it's a great simple sounding amp, a real Soldano with all the love of Mike in it. Love the simplicity of 6 knobs. Probably the best amp i've played in my life, i think i will never sell it.

Sounds great. Definitely sounds like Soldano with its own character

Why "Boost Karens" even exist at all is beyond me... I commented one time somewhere about how much i love trying out and buying all different kinds of boost/OD's and i was kind of floored at how many people replyed with "one is all you need" or "if you need a boost, your amp sucks"... To each his own, but man you guys are really missing out...

Exactly!! I really don't get what these guys say this stuff. I wish I could find the Boost Karen Kool-Aid Fountain and put a plug in it

Definitely has that SLO thing going on. And it’s only 50W so it should be a little more manageable than its bigger brother. I dig it.

Great video. And I’m one of those guys not into boost pedals, but I do like the mxr double double. But your pedals do sound great! Thanks. 💪🤘

Great video Jarrod !Amp is very bright sounding, I bet a 4×12 cab would make it roar ,a boost definitely is necessary for my ear! Thanks bud u guys have a nice Easter weekend out there peace bro!🎵🎶🍺🎸🐇🐣💐

Thanks for commenting. I might have dialed this amp in a little bit bright but I backed down some of those settings when I compared it to the Astro and it sounded a lot better

Yeah but at least you had one to miss right? I missed out on one for a really killer price and never really got over that.

@@These_go_to_eleven_1959 yeah I’ve been looking for another one. Even a 100+ and that’s been difficult. I will find another someday.

Sounds great boosted or not, I really like how simplistic the controls are. \m/

I've owned 1 of them and 2 Hot Rod 50+,(50 + has that added gain you may want over the 50) and have had my SLO100 for about 10 years now and never looked back. I agree the 50 does not have gain for modern metal. I'm also with you on the pedal in from of any amp. I'm 62 and remember going into the local guitar stores in the late 70's early 80's and I'd ask the salesman if he had a distortion or overdrive I could try with an amp, and they'd look at me like I was a 3 eyed monster!!! LOL guess times haven't change that much with the boost Karens huh? :)

i have a hot rod 50 but whit two channels is this a new features amps?

Hey Jarrod, Just wondering if you think this amp would be worth capturing because of its rarity. Maybe it sounds too similar to an SLO and might not be worth the trouble. This was my dream amp for at least 10 years. Heard several of them at live shows in the 90s and became obsessed.
@TONEWARSgearshow7 ай бұрын
If I have the time, I'll see if I can make some captures. I'll probably only have time to do the captures on one platform, probably the quad cortex
@seannicholes7 ай бұрын
@@TONEWARSgearshow no big deal man, I'm on tonex at the moment. I've really been enjoying it. I've recently been playing your Badlander di captures, both with your dual cab IRS and with the official celestion IR of my real physical cabinet. Super tight and aggressive, the thrash amp of my dreams, lol. Sounds great both on the pedal and in DAW!

Quick question.......Do you put the OD in front of the amp or through the effects loop when it comes to the amps your demoing?

In front

I can tell the Soldano is a great amp but for my taste not as good as the Astro probably. You need to get an Uberschall Mk. II (Uber Ultra) to compare to the Twin Jet. 😁 It's a lot more tweakable. The KT88 version would probably be the most direct comparison of course and seems like it would give you more room to tweak.

It sounds great to me. I like to use older amps or amps that were not meant to be used for high gain and get them to do just that. I have an Orange OR50 with a Mr. Scary mod and use a dirty tree in front, and it gets there. Sounds very different than my other high gain amps. It's fun to me. Great job. 👍
@These_go_to_eleven_19597 ай бұрын
It was not your fault but all this video did was Piss me off! I will explain, a few years back i had a opportunity to buy a slightly used HR-50 for $400 that was in excellent shape and sounded great but my available cash could not cover it. I even tried selling some gear real fast but at $400 that HR-50 did not stay available for long!☹ Bad memory at best now. Great amp though.
@TONEWARSgearshow7 ай бұрын
Sorry to hear about that. We all have that one that got away don't we?
@These_go_to_eleven_19597 ай бұрын
@@TONEWARSgearshow Yeah and now everytime i even see a HR-50 i have to move on before i start thinking about it too much. $400 for one of those was the deal of a lifetime. but the guy needed money bad and was not willing to hold it and wait until i sold something.

Will it take a Mr. Scary MOD? Like to see you do a Soldano SLO 100 Mr. Scary Mod vid. Maybe compare it with the Badlander Mr. Scary mod.
