Great video, got to say I love your gear buying advice rules, while I am not a follower of Joshua, I do dig his teachings. For me when buying anything I ask, does this solve a problem or does it create an opportunity? If it does one I give the purchase serious consideration and buy about 85% of the time, if it does both it gets purchased 100% of the time. The ToneX One does both and I love mine. Again thanks for a great, in-depth video. All the best to you and your family.

Enough to be annoying and add comb filtering, but not enough to be able to accurately fix that issue.

Thanks for such comprehensive review. I just discovered your channel and love it. I'm a Helix Floor user and I'm trying to avoid bringing the Helix to church. Something like the Tonex One will be great but of course I'd miss all the modulations and delays. Have you tried the Tones One with strong Reverb (in a Tone preset I don't mean an additional reverb pedal) and no additional pedals at all? My idea will be to bring just the guitar and a Tonex One ro church and move from a clean channel to a Drive channel and that's it (I can then flip through many Preset A/B options if needed for different songs). Our church setup and band is very minimal (just worship leader with acoustic and me on electric) so maybe I can get away with this. Thanks again !! Blessing

@YoungSuhr745 ай бұрын
So would you recommend this as a good plug and play option? Meaning that besides having to load a capture and adjusting the input trim/eq, you wouldn’t have to constantly play with settings to make it sound good. I currently own a ToneX pedal but I’m not really satisfied with how it sounds. I never could get my ToneX pedal to sound great like everyone hyped it up to be. Personally, I’m not a fan of scrolling through menus for hours so I never really bonded with my ToneX. I was considering selling it but I’d hate to lose a potentially great piece of gear just because of user error and the lack of time to sit down with it to finally find the right settings to adjust. I love the idea of the ToneX one (for my mini board project to use on Wednesday youth services) and it seems to not have as many settings as its big brother, I’m just not sure about it due to my experience with ToneX so far.
@thetoneshepherd5 ай бұрын
It's all about finding the right capture. For me and my pedalboard, my personal amp captures need little to no adjustment. In fact, I'm running my Prosonic and AC30 captures completely stock right now with the only adjustment being Input Trim (+8.5). So the "constant tweaking" doesn't have to be a thing. Again, it's about finding the right capture for you.

Great video! Please help! I bought a ToneX one a few months ago, I still can't get it working properly, and I'm very frustrated. I'm struggling with some fundamental issues/questions. For example, I have about a 500 millisecond delay from my guitar to my computer speakers, when I'm exploring amp options in the ToneX software, and the output volume is extremely low. I've completed the input level volume adjustment for my guitar and I'm still having problems. Should I switch to Amplitube when I'm actually trying to hear what the amp sounds like without a 500 ms delay? Will you please make a video to show your computer input/output settings, and how you're using (either Tone x or Amplitube) software to capture guitar sounds on your computer. I haven't found that topic covered on KZbin anywhere. Thanks.

Then I realized as you mentioned in one of the other comments that using a big box one for drives makes much more sense to take advantage of midi. So my question would be, if I use one big box pedal and one tonex one for the amps, is the latency difference between the two going to cause any phasing issues? Thanks for any insight you have into this.

No you can’t. But I can see how that may be helpful. I think the best thing to do is just to keep all the colors consistent in a way that makes sense to you. This is crazy ..how does this compare to boss ir2?
@thetoneshepherd5 ай бұрын
Great question! I don't have an IR2 but if you can find a regular big box TONEX comparison then the TONEX ONE will be the same
@andrewdahlgren43504 ай бұрын
Where do you set the compressor on the One? I’m having trouble matching volume between the One and the big box, and the compression seems to be about the only thing that can raise the volume. My normal setting is compression off on the big box.
@thetoneshepherd4 ай бұрын
Make sure you set the Global Volume up pretty high. I don't touch the compressor at all on either the ONE or the Big Box
@andrewdahlgren43504 ай бұрын
@@thetoneshepherd My levels are way different between the two of if I have the compressor down. Very strange.

@thetoneshepherd4 ай бұрын
Oh sweet! So glad you got it worked out. The way "Tone Models" and "Presets" work on the ToneX software can be a bit confusing and can lead to some accidental parameter changes. Reloading is always a good option if something's not quite right.
@andrewdahlgren43504 ай бұрын
@@thetoneshepherd Apparently this has happened to others. Just needs a reload of the capture and it fixes it.

Would it be possible to use 2 ToneX Ones and a pair of TRS->Dual Mono cables (one for each output) to split to my DISO, and a headphone out under my board to either plugged headphones directly in or to something like a Slow Bear?
@ChrisMadson5 ай бұрын
I am an idiot. I can just run the output of my Daiso plus left and right into something like the slow bear and be good to go.
@thetoneshepherd5 ай бұрын
This is it! With the Slow Gear you could put it before or after your DISO+, either way!

I just got my tonex ones. Been having some output volume issues. I was messing around with the reverb button in the alternate mode and when i set it from 0 to around 9 o clock that made the output volume skyrocket. Any idea why? I would prefer to not have any reverb on the pedal and it just take the wet effects from my bigsky
@thetoneshepherd3 ай бұрын
On the ToneX One you can set global volume and preset volume separately. Try playing with those. You shouldn't have to touch the reverb.
@amoschen37783 ай бұрын
@@thetoneshepherd thanks. I found the issue. It was bad cables from my tonex ones to the interface. Weirdly enough, those cables worked just fine with my acs1 just now. But for some reason the tonex ones do not work with them
@thetoneshepherd3 ай бұрын
Man, I hate these kinds of problems. Not reassuring at all! But it's not uncommon. I'm hunting down what I believe to be an intermittent signal issue with one of my cables but since it's not consistent I still haven't nailed it down yet. UGH

What is the latency?

@@thetoneshepherd Hi. I saw this video. And from what I got is that ToneX One is 1ms quicker than the ToneX big box. What my question is what is the OVERALL latency of the ToneX One since it's a digital pedal. I usually get massive latencies when I plug in digital pedals. I just want to know if I stack up a rig on ToneX One, will it cause like 60ms latency, that wasn't really clear in the video. I hope I was able to articulate my question 😁
@thetoneshepherd5 ай бұрын
That’s answered in that video too 😂 but the short answer is around 3ms. I redid the calculations and the big box is about 3.25ms and the ONE is about 3ms. So they’re closer than I originally thought but the ONE is still a tick faster.

I understand it's a pedal for a daw, not an amp. Perfect for home studio or KZbin, but not suitable for live playing with a classic amp.

You can absolutely use it with a tube amp, just put overdrive captures on it instead of amp models 🤙🏼

Do I need reverse polarity option on my diso if I bought two of these?
@thetoneshepherd5 ай бұрын
Only if you use captures that are out of polarity. All my captures, for example, are in polarity. But yes, if you want to explore the wide world of captures from many different people, then a DSIO+ with PolRev will be quite helpful!

Is it possible to control it via MIDI through the USB output?
@thetoneshepherd5 ай бұрын
Goooood question! The current manual doesn't mention that but maaaaybe it could be possible later with a software update? Not sure.
@gideonjean43355 ай бұрын
@@thetoneshepherd If you have time and can, please, test the USB MIDI, send some PC commands to it testing some MIDI channels to see if it switches the preset. I'm curious about this to know if it could change between one drive and another via the MIDI controller. If it changes the preset when connected to the computer, the chance is high that it will change if connected to a controller.
