Tongans at Mauna Kea #4 07/24/2019 - Mele Kū Ha'aheo e Ku'u Hawai'i composed by Kumu Hina

Wrapping up our visit to Mauna Kea.
The Mele being sung in the beginning of the video is one of Kumu Hina's beautiful compositions called Kū Ha'aheo e Ku'u Hawai'i which was inspired by one of our STT (Siasi Tonga Tau'ataina) songs. Kumu Hina is the one in the red whom led her fellow Tongan supporters onto the Muna. ❤

Native Hawaiian traditional and cultural rights are secured by article XII, Section 7 of the Hawaii State Constitution. "The State reaffirms and shall protect all rights, customarily and traditionally exercised for subsistence, cultural and religious purposes and possessed by ahupua‘a tenants who are descendants of native Hawaiians who inhabited the Hawaiian Islands prior to 1778, subject to the right of the State to regulate such rights."
