Why wouldn't you like sf4 it's the heart of the fgc. All roads in the fgc lead back to this game. It gave us legendary moments players and shaped all the fighting games that came after it. I can't stand the disrespect from these kids who wouldn't even make the top 100 players. They play one game and think themselves experts. It was Daigo umehara who save this game at launch every one was hating it saying it was too hard & ugly then Daigo happens showing such dominance so everyone get exited, then people was looking this game just to see Daigo destroying everyone, then the other PRO's start to raise their skill to be at Daigo's level.

The freedom to express in this Street Fighter is also unmatched. My personal favourite is Street Fighter 2 World Warrior because I was there when it dropped and it was absolute mania from there on (the rest is history as they say), but Street Fighter 4 in my opinion is the best one Capcom ever did in more recent times as an anticipated sequel. I'd dropped 2D fighters for a long time as I thought the genre was outdated and being outshone by the 3D fighters of the time i.e. Virtua Fighter, Dead or Alive, Soul Calibur etc, but Street Fighter 4 felt so good to play, it literally got me back into it again.

@ I think what is there is good, Capcom have just fallen back into the SFV trap again of giving us a bare bones roster in terms of numbers. I just don't like this practice of charging for characters that should be in the game to begin with, this season pass rubbish needs to die. Where are all the new costumes too? The game is screaming out for a freshen up.

Man, sf4 was insane, OS, crouch techs, oki, 1 frame links, and character specific combos and setups. It was always exciting to watch. Sf5 and Sf6 are cool but doesn't come close to how good sf4 was. We have some jank stuff like Elena healing and oki loops but the skill expression was insane.

yeah, it was a game that had EVERYTHING, that was its blessing and its curse. I really like being able to shimmy throws in the later editions, and im glad crouch tech is gone(OS's in general tbh), and Ultras are an insane comeback mechanic. But the characters always ended up playing so differently in the hands of the players. They let you do a lot in this game and had moves with so much power, 2f SPD, meterless reversals, linking lights into heavies, invulnerability on backdashes and focus attacks were such crazy tools by todays standards. It hurt the balance a bit, but everything cool does.

This game was my intro to the FGC online. Got SMOKED by a Cammy player, and never got on again. Lol. Now I'm 43, diamond 1 in sf6, and went to my first EVO last year with my wife, going 1-2 in sf6. The FGC gets alot of flak, but to those of us in here who love it, there's nothing like being here.

I will defend 1 frame links. Having different combos with different levels of execution, and different characters with somewhat similar kits with differing levels of execution, allows far, FAR more space for individual player skill and choice. Maybe you're just not that good, maybe you are, but it's grand finals and your hands aren't moving exactly as you want. Either way, you need to choose if you're going to go for that hard combo that deals great damage or the easier combo that deals good damage. Do you risk the drop? Do you trust yourself to be that clutch? Having higher skill ceiling means more space for the best to differentiate themselves from scrubs like me.
