For those of us that are just learning, we need to understand what the numbers mean. I have a 15 note drum that has more than one location for the numbers. When I look at tabbed music how do I know which number to use, for example I have 3 locations with the #3.

Great question. I also have a tongue drum that has 11 notes and is labeled with numbers. I will try to make a video about this to help explain how to approach playing with numbers. It generally depends on the octave for the specific song. So if there are 3 #3's I would guess that those are the same note, but just different octaves. If you send me the link to the type of tongue drum you are playing on that would help me know for sure.

@@rootrhythm It's a Burning&Lin Steel Tongue Drum, 15 notes, 14". Does that help you?

@@marjoriegrant8100 Thanks! I'm not as familiar with this brand, but from the description and photos it seems like the numbers are correlated to a specific note and duplicates of the number would just be the same note, but in lower or higher octaves. Usually the larger "tongues" are lower and the smaller "tongues are higher on the scale.
