What gauge nail did you use? Carpenters in the USA recommend 15 or 16 gauge. Looking at your gun it appears to be 18 gauge or even 23 gauge.

Thats good info - thanks for sharing! Our brad nailer is 18 gauge.

Hi thanks for the video. I'm getting ready to do 16' t&g pine on my outside covered deck. A lot of the pieces are decent but have a slight bow to them. Did you have many challenges with that during install?
@thehillproject1 Жыл бұрын
Yes, some boards were bowed and we needed to use leverage to straighten the pieces into place, then quickly secure them using the brad nailer. Occasionally a board was too far gone and needed to be swapped out. Good luck with your project!

We’re doing same project on outside covered deck. We’re restraining the boards with Tung oil. It looks natural but some of the boards are curling. Any advice?

Can I use pin nailer gun for the tongue and groove board to install on ceiling? could the nail be able to hold these board?
@thehillproject1 Жыл бұрын
Good question! A pin nailer with smaller headless nails likely doesn't have the holding power for this tongue and groove pine. I'd recommend a brad nailer or finish nailer for this project

love the project, also how did you do your brick wall, is that panelling?
@thehillproject16 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yes, the brick wall is panel. It was really easy to install but we did have some minor bowing due to moisture.

Do i not need a gap around the perimeter to account for swelling because of temperature changes?
@thehillproject19 ай бұрын
Natural wood products will shrink and swell. Standard recommendation is 1/4" gap around the perimeter. We installed our ceiling in the summer when humidity was highest so opted to reduce the gap anticipating more shrink than swell. Hopefully that works in our favour!

We bought from a local timber store, but you can find this type of tongue and groove pine at Homedepot or Lowe’s too

Yeah I’ll just tell you where I got mine. Facebook marketplace had some Amish untreated tongue and groove pine that the kiln dry
