That's the thing I liked about Toni though. The fact that he only cared about the team winning and not his own stats made him not only a real teamplayer, but also a true player who understood basketball's fundamentals.

You’re damn right!! Even in his era if he ran his own team he could throw those numbers up to.
@direktor253 жыл бұрын
He would have around 12-15 ast. because that was his thing . . . rather pass then shoot even do, if he had to sccore ( that was more Dražen Petrović style, 100 points in one game back in 80' when in Europe team woula have 65-80 points in total on end ) like lets say against Italy, he had 11/11 3p. He could play any position, unselfish, incredible talent, quiet and for me, ofc best Croatian player ( even do there is K. Ćosić-older croatian legend, played university in US but not NBA, D. Petrović ( best shooter ever, too bad he died young, Dino Rađa & Stojko Vranković ( both played in Celtics ) . . . etc. )

@@fabiogomes2894 I think Mr. E is right. He was more like Magic because he natural position was the point. He didn't get to play that position much in Chicago because Pippen ran the offense, but he was at his best when running the point. He was similar in some way to Bird as well but Magic and Bird were similar players so that's not surprising.

Toni was faster back in Europe too! I prefered his games back in Europe whether with Jugoplastika or Benetton, because they played as a team and it didn't matter who score. While in NBA, many times did I notice that even he could obviouly score but somehow he had to pass it to others and it just slowed down the game. I loved European basketball back then. I think the games were more tactical than in NBA. And Toni is my most favourite sportsman ever!!!

He is nowhere near the level of Jokic and Doncic. These guys are franchise players and MVP candidates every year, who singlehandedly turned around their lottery franchises and made them champinship contenders without even a second star on their teams and while being in their early 20's, it's incredible. Kukoc was a 4th option on his NBA team, it's insane to compare him with those guys. It's called nostalgia syndrome or subjective bias, it messes with your judgment, reality and objectivity.

@@MrBodin26 At that time, slow Jokic could only wear towels and an imprecise Doncic with a funny percentage of shot would warm the bench as the last option. At that time, there was not much Europeans in the NBA or they were trusted as they are today. So it's stupid to compare today's basketball with the one. After all, when Doncic and Jokic do what Kukoc in Europe did in Europe, they can in the same sentence with Kukoc. Three times the European Champion with one Yugoplastika, a kid at the age of 18.
