I was born 1964. My parents were very young. We didn't have any furniture in our living room but an old easy chair from my mom's mother and an old rocking chair from my Dad's mother. There was also a record player and a tiny black and white TV. One of my earliest memories is dancing the Twist with my parents to an appearance on some rock show.

Thanks Toni for the memories! While I was a kid in the 60‘s (12 in 69) I had 2 older sisters who were in high school when these dances were popular. So they would always be trying them out at home with me watching. Result- I was one of the only guys in high school who knew how to dance…at least a little. I was very popular on the dance floor. Even more so when disco hit the scene in the late 70‘s! What fun we had! Cheers and thanks again! I‘ve always enjoyed your movies and congrats on finally getting your recognition for „Mickie“.

Every time I hear Marvelous Marvin two memories come back. My late Auntie M who would have been 78 this year - she introduced me to his music in about 1967. Second one of those moments where you are when something tragic happens like, Kennedy, Princess Diana, and 9/11. For me sitting in Oklahoma City airport on my way to Dallas - I immediately bought his greatest hits cassette for my journey - I would drive back to Denver from Dallas with it playing continuously... Thanks Marvin for all the memories...too smooth by half.

It was the absolute best time in music...exploding talent like Billy Preston, JB and the British invasion. Ppl were respectful of one another, women revered in songs and the lyrics were about love and longing, no cursing, and much more meaningful with social justice themes and great dances! In my 80th year and still remember and love the sixties. Listening to the music transports me back to a time when I believe it was more fun to be young, even though we did not have all the mobile phones and gadgets that the kids have today.I grew up in a small city and there were dances on most nights of the week, the "pubs" were always full with people enjoying themselves and everyone seemed happier then.

@@sherrillsturm7240 That hardly ever happened so stop exaggerating DUH, they were called DRILLS and yes it was WAY more fun back then. School was so much more fun. Now you can't even walk down the damn streets with out worrying about getting shot. WE had crime but not like now . And atleast we weren't being indoctrination or being brainwashed to mutilate our bodies or that we are more then one gender. They actually taught academics not ideology. Those days cannot compare to these horrendous days . If I could I'd trade those days with these anytime

This video confirmed some suspicions about the origins of my mom's impeccable dance style. She was born in 54 but an early learner thanks to older sisters, so her default dancing has always been quite 60s influenced. But 60s via Detroit, so more Motown than Beach Blanket Bingo. Watching the Larks do the Jerk, I said "now **THAT is my mom's Jefk!" There's dancing (and I do love something universal all can join in) and then there's moving with SOUL

@L I grew up in that era. Drug use like you see today did not start until the later 60s. In the 50s drug use was unheard of as a social dependency for interacting with people. We were better off for it to as individuals and a better society. In the less populated areas people didn't even think about locking lock their doors when they left home.
