What a fantastic cast! Hard to believe they're teenagers! Tony is excellent, and Anita has a powerhouse voice. Maria is absolutely lovely, all those high notes are effortless. Congrats to the whole cast/production team, the staging/lights are great too.

Tony was played by Clay Singer who was a High School Junior at the time. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon last year and is now a professional actor. His voice has gotten better and better. Keep an eye out for him!

When our HS did this, this kind of setup would've been much easier to videotape. We used the aisles, and the gangs came in from opposite ends of the auditorium. Tony was on the right side of the stage (Jet side) Maria was on the left (Shark side) and Anita was in the middle, simply cause we had nowhere else to put her... Great quality video, and awesome actors! (Sorry, tendency to ramble. A lot)

Wow! This is NOT an easy piece to perform. Congrats to West Port, CT and Staples High School for a very good performance. I'd like to know what orchestra accompanied them, if that was the school's student orchestra, they are darned good, too! What do they put in the water up there in West Port?! I am a baritone in the Orpheus Club Men's Chorus of Ridgewood, NJ and I'm using this recording to rehearse at home between our weekly rehearsals. It's good to know there are some really talented young people coming up in the world. Thank You! Yes, we are a men's chorus, but we do have a Maria (none other than Barbara Dever, the mezzo-soprano), and an Anita, (don't know who, yet).

Very good .. great performances by everyone.. but I was impressed by boys in both gangs as in my opinion they have hardest singing parts in this quintet.. all those low notes that in so many productions are a little off key.. and slightly out of tune. These guys were great !!!!!!!!
