Tonight Show Burnout: 1990 Saleen SC #12 Foxbody Redshred - The PAS Collection Series

In this video we're bringing you a front row seat to Foxbody Saleen Royalty. This is 1990 Saleen SC #12 which was used by Saleen in the early 90's to mid 90's for much of the marketing for the SC and their parts catalog. The car is most famous for being driven by Tim Allen on The Tonight Show in a burnout contest with Jay Leno. This was the first contest they held against each other. These cars are all in private collections like the PAS Collection. They are rarely seen in public. You're going to want to watch to the end. That's for sure!
We're partnering with Performance Autosport to bring you a front row seat to view these precious cars up close. Mark curates and manages a collection of cars ranging from rare Foxbody Saleen Mustangs to rare race cars with manufacturers championship wins.
Stay tuned to the channel as we get to bring you up close to other Saleen's, Manufacturers Race Cars, and other vehicles of significance and rarity.
Many of these cars won't be seen at any shows or local gatherings. That's why we've partnered with Mark to showcase these vehicles and talk about their unique history and stories. Each vehicle we plan to introduce to you in video has historical provenance and significance. Add in desirability and low production numbers with that provenance and you have a car that is irreplaceable.

I used to get rides to school in this car when I was a kid in Yorba Linda CA. Kerry was like a father to me as I grew up with his son's and did everything with them. I'm glad to see this car is in great hands and takes me back. Thanks for sharing it.

What an amazing story. Things like this are very impressionable on our young minds. I have similar memories of riding in a 57 Chevy Bel Air as a young kid as well as my uncle's 86 Trans Am Firebird. Burnouts abound! Thanks for sharing your personal history with this Saleen.

@@conorhayden9407 yep... I hear ya. We need driving videos. Lots of obstacles that day. 1. rain 2. all these in the PAS series so far were cut in one day. Two more to go. 3. location of the cars is VERY remote. All roads are single lanes with no lines. I know.. I know.. excuses excuses. BUT, I have been talking with Mark about getting a couple of these cars that are safe to drive to a location where we can do that. Believe me.... I WANT to drive these cars that can be driven. Just so I can say I drove them. ;)

BACK IN 90 MY 87 MUSTANG GT WAS A FAST CAR RUNNING LOW 14S BUT THE SALEEN HERE IS A LOW 12 SECOND CAR AND FOR 90 THAT WAS LIKE WHAT MY 900HP SHELBY SUPER SNAKE IS TODAY LOL VERY FAST.

I heard a comment in the video that 90's weren't Supercharged but I could swear I'd seen a 7up Saleen charged from Saleen at some point...maybe not...

It was not a production option of the cars. The car you're thinking of is a "7 up" convertible that has a lot of extras on it. That one has a Paxton supercharger on it. It was a special build. I believe it also has a roll bar. In 90 supercharging was a challenge due to emissions. Saleen had to have EPA approved vehicles.

@@chetzeidler9517 yeah. That's one of them. Remember that Bleakley Ford was adding those to cars in 1989-1990 before Saleen was doing it in production.

It is still around. The gentleman that bought it from Tim has passed it down in his family. It is well cared for.

Beautiful and I don’t even like red lol. I do have a question that’s off topic from this car but did Saleen ever sell any cars that had the extra set of injectors in the intake or was it only done for promotional material for Vortech?

One of my buddies had a Caylpso green saleen way back in the day and traded it off to another local to me guy and he’s had it ever since. I remember the saleen wide body SR rainbow paint SN95, I believe I still have the magazine at the house that had that car in it. I’ll own a Saleen one day, even if it’s just a base model car.

I really dig Tim Allen. The Men are Pigs your was awesome. I think of all the Fox Saleen’s, this one is the one I’d prefer to have.
