Great points about the market. One thing I've noticed on BAT is usually how cheap cars sell for without a reserve. Those tend to be a better reflection of the current markets selling price on a certain kind of car.

Great video gentleman. When it comes to the modern Mustang market I always use 93 Cobras as the benchmark. I’ve noticed prices on them sliding. Personally I thought they were hyper inflated as they were a semi highly produced collectible. Pre Covid they were $5k+ project cars to be had and mint $30k examples. Post Covid those mint examples became $50k+ cars. I think the market as you pointed out is self correcting on them.

The amount of crappy ads is amazing. People are lazy now and don’t seem to care. My friends and I trade links to ads that are so poorly written and the pictures are so poor. It’s almost laughable these days.

@MWILSON7 I’m going to have to 🤐 As a former broadcast engineer from 25 years ago the modern internet broadcast age has brought about so many failures. Proper English is one in the ads that is awful.

Roush built a prototype Mustang back in 1987 for Ford that was a 5.8 twin turbo that was supposed to be the 1989 25th Anniversary car and it had body work that was very similar to what became the 1993 Cobra(it was even a red color that looks like Vibrant Red)...so Roush gets the credit for influencing the 1993 Cobra...not SAAC. The car is still in the Roush private collection. Revan Evan did a video about it in 2021.
@PuristMotorsports15 күн бұрын
I believe you’ve proven my point that there are a lot of assumptions drawn on where the influence came from. No one at Ford has ever said specifically what it was. I have magazines with articles on that Roush car from 25+ years ago. I could see where the idea is viable too. The SAAC cars had A LOT in common with the 93 Cobra. More parts than the one off custom prototype Roush did for 1989. The 93 cobra had a cast GT40 style intake and iron GT40 heads which were cast and iron versions of what was used on the SAAC cars. The side skirts and details of the SAAC more closely resemble the 93 cobra than the Roush prototype to me. I’ve been around both cars and I’m making my own conclusions. To each their own. Either way, it’s a good thing the 93 cobra happened because ever since 1993, Ford has had a high performance Mustang in the lineup. One could argue that without the 93 Cobra we wouldn’t have the modern GT500’s or the GTD. Things would likely look different than they are now.

I had a Calypso 93 lx 5.0 from ages 17-24, many years ago, My dream car has been a calypso Saleen since the day i discovered they existed. My uncle always had nice cars and one was a 89 saleen in maroon with gold striped and tan interior, so i've always been hip to saleens, the calypso saleen is my if i could have any car in the world, car.

There’s something about the color. I can remember seeing these color cars and trucks and even the Astro vans from GM in it and just not really liking it too much. The color is eye catching. The older I get I do believe it has become nostalgic and has grown on me immensely. It was a color that didn’t sell well with the Fox Mustangs. But now it’s iconic and highly sought after. I’ve said it before but it reminds me of the violet (purple) E36 M3’s that are now sought after. Cool colors from the 90’s.

Wondering who did the interior swap? Wanting to do this to. My 1992 mustang Gt.
@PuristMotorsportsАй бұрын
The whole interior conversion required a floor pan from the S550. Mainly because of the size of the 10 speed auto. The same shop did the whole build and they aren’t building for clients. It’s like Jay Leno’s garage. They only work on cars in the collection or help out close friends.

Back in 93, I went to Archway Ford in Baltimore, Md. I was looking for a 93 Cobra, but they had sold the last one on the lot. In the showroom, they had 3 new Saleens at $30k a pop, including a calypso green Saleen. Way out of my price range. I joked around with the salesman and asked if they had any used Saleens around. He said, "Wait a minute" and came back with a white with blue stripes 89 Saleen (89-342). One test drive later, I signed the papers and drove the car home. BTW, I still have it.
@PuristMotorsports2 ай бұрын
Good thing you jokingly asked!! I want to say that Calypso one had the rare Logic Wheels on it. There’s one in that area that is supposedly still with its original owner. 93 Cobras were a steal for what they were. Somewhat expensive. But not near as expensive as a Saleen.

I'll tell you how to fix the ideling problem, had the same broblem on my 90GT. The thottle posision sensor at idle needs to put out a certain voltage at idle to the computer. This sensor wears because it is just a carbon variable resistor. This causes the computer to get too low a voltage causing erratic idle. You can remove the tps and file the mouting holes longer, therefore rotating the sensor to compensate. Just another Mustang trick.

@PuristMotorsports well that's more then I expected. But since I got you on the line 89 with 80k miles good shape. After market radio and newer tires what would be a good starting price? I don't wanna insult the man.
@PuristMotorsports3 ай бұрын
@CCWFOX beauty is in the eye of the beholder there. My best recommendation is to look on BaT and Hemmings auctions and see what recent results are on cars that match the condition and mods if the one you’re looking at. It’s nearly impossible to price a car on a description alone. And I’m not one to put a value on one because it’s worth what the buyer and seller agree upon. In the Saleen world there are so many nuances that affect value. The best thing is the more original the more value there is in the car. There are exceptions to that though. Best of luck in the adventure. The journey is part of the fun.
