10:05 YES! Placing the face shape before the sound is something I figured out myself when practicing animation, and now I see other animators mess this up all the time and it drives me crazy!

I knew some of this - I've been doing the 'TV style' of mouth movement in my little animations so far - but there was a lot here that I didn't know, too, and I feel like I understand the process better for having watched it. I'd read the advice about starting the mouth movements ahead of the dialogue before, but never been able to figure out how to implement that in practice, so it was really helpful to see what that actually looks like. Amazingly useful video, thanks so much! :D

6:50 its strange doing 3D before 2D animation, when you realise you essentially draw ONE character, and that character is reused the whole animation, then all you need to do its the "golden poses" and tweak the animation if it doesnt move right. All the inbetweens etc and just ignored and you pull the puppet around like like clay mation.
@tugsuumovies19992 жыл бұрын
I mean 3D animation IS essentially claymation simulated in digital form. All the steps are pretty much the same

Do you have any advice on studying live action video and locomotion in order to learn the motion of lipsync and general motion? I've noticed since beyond the pendulums and bouncing balls, i need to study motion from reference in order to get barely accurate, from imagination i cam only get to the first frame and the last, i dont know the motion enough to fill in the blanks. However i dont know how animators study their reference/do observational studies at all. I thought it would just be matter of watching a video and drawing the frames after watching your video of studying live action but its much more difficult and i wanted to know how you study what you see as an animator. Thank you for this video!

@tugsuumovies19992 жыл бұрын
I find it differs with each anime, but it also has to do with the japanese language itself, where emoting with noises is much more common, so anime characters tend to make excessive (from a western viewers perspective) noises during their lines. Of course nobody normal is going to speak japanese like DIO, but Dio's voice acting fits the world of the anime he resides in, which is why i say it depends on the anime
