Great work and videos. I don’t know why people have issues with masks. As a colorist we are required not only to wear masks but also a shield from the state. Clients and we feel feel more secure by having that barrier between us despite that it’s not the most comfortable thing to wear. All clients are mandated to wear masks as well. It’s great that you are doing the responsible thing. Don’t listen to haters.

Shades eq developer is the equivalent of a 7 volume.

I thought it might be helpful to mention that if you do not leave shades on for the full twenty minutes, it will not last.. Fifteen minutes at the least. If you do the color a nine it will darker than that. If you've ever watched videos where people explain how it works, it has to go through all of those process to last longer

I apply neatly, but depending on hiw low he the hairline is and whether or not I had to reay apply heavily (due ro gray coverage) there can be staining or conflict with makeup. The barrier cream can block grays from.getting covered around the face, so.my clients are fine with me really going hwavy handed at the hairline. They don't want to see grays! But it should never be a hot mess. I always removeD any color that hits the skin and that can interfere with makeup. I just exolain this and say "Sorry!" I recommend bringing along a makeup touchup kit if you have to go somewhere right after your appt. I know it's a bummer. Something like this swrcice should be neat. Sloppy application looks unprofessional. I am super neat with my foiling, too. LOL

That turned out beautifully! Do you find washing with a purple shampoo fades the toner out? I was always told purple shampoo opens the cuticle, letting the toner escape. I could be misinformed.

Gorgeous color! I'm a hairstylist and I always shampoo first (usually a purple shampoo) as a pre toner and then tone the hair if needed, then add conditioner. Is there a reason you shampoo after applying the toner?

Do redken! You can always go on their page and look at their formulas but LEARN their line, you can look at their color chart to see the pigment it has in each shade. I would recommend to use a creamy Demi for root shadowing for more coverage. You could use Pravana or Matrix for their Demi’s

Hi Ashley!! I always thought we had to "tone down"; can you explain the reasoning for using 10N instead of a 9N? Is it because the V neutralizes the blonde, allowing the 10N to deposit? Love your videos, would love an in depth toning or placement video!

Jacqueline Tran Hello I have never heard of we have to tone down ever. I can see if my client wanted a darker blonde then I would be toning down but my client wanted a really bright blonde so that’s why I use the 10 in because 10 is the highest level. The violet is going to cancel out the yellow and cooler tones are always a tad bit darker. Placement of toner I don’t really understand that to be honest ... with toner I always tone what needs to be toned especially when it comes to lighten hair

Jacqueline Tran no worries. Yes a lot of brands and some hairstyles believe it’s wrong or the go strictly by the rules. REDKEN I love because their toners are awesome yet simple. They just came out with the 10 series not to long ago! They are amazing for blondes!

@@ashleyalopez I agree. I AM RESPONDING TO.your viewer on this post: TONE at level. If you want an icy white result, the hair has to be lifted to a level 10. If there is residual yellow you can use the 9V with a 10N or you can use the 10Vv (but I add 1/4 oz of clear just bwcause it's a double violet and can dep almost too much. THE 10N has enough gold for reflect within the "N" so the hair has lustre vs. a heavy ash deposit that can make the hair look either slightly volet ir "darker." With shades, I tone ti whatever level I am working with unless the client wanted a darker blonde. I DO lift to a clean 9 to tone it at a 7 or 8, because at a level 7 or 8,, you're going to see more yellow and orange underlying pigment in the hair. You'd just be fighting that brass more. (EVERY color fades warm, too). But there no hard fast "rule" of tone down. I think pros say that becayse of warmth. If you want a hokden caramel or honey blonde then just tone to whatever level and it will be gorgeous. You can almost put ANYTHING on a blonde at a 9 or 10.and it will be pretty. Shades EQ makes it easy.

Yes , in this case she mixed more 10 than V example 1 oz of 010N and 15ML of 09V with dedicated processing soliton. If you added equal of both you’d use Cristal 000 clear to dilute the V bc is the most concentrated one out of the 2 for the level she is toning. Hope it helps

Hello! I recently dyed my hair ombré and I just saw your video about leave in conditioners and was wondering if the ‘Its a 10 leave in with keratin’ is still something you recommend! Also, I shouldn’t be using purple shampoo and conditioner everytime I wash my hair correct? Can you help me with a question please . I've used shades eq for 1st time today . Were in the uk . I did a root smudge of 7n and 7p. Then toned ends with 10ml 9v ,10ml 9p and 10ml of clear and 30ml of processing solution But the consistency was different in the ends colour then in the root smudge. It felt more like a gel rather than liquid . Is that normal . Thanks

One question, does this toner color the black part or just the bleached part? I have been having trouble finding a toner that only colors my bleached parts. I used the Wella toner and put it all over my head because when having highlights in hair its hard just to get it on highlighted part so my black hairs got colored to which I don't want.

Hopefully, the stylist used a semi-permanent color to tone so it should fade out then you can tone again using these two Redken shades for a better result.
