Tonkotsu ramen (or just about any style, really) is without question the best food I've ever eaten in my life. It is certainly worth flying over there for it. I keep thinking I wish I could afford to fly back there just to have lunch and then fly back (Japan's nice to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there again). To someone who's actually eaten this before and now cannot, such videos are more torture than you can imagine.

It is. I'm from Malaysia and I have Pork Soup Noodles or Fish Soup Noodles as much as possible. IT IS AWESOME no matter how many times I eat it, still I enjoy it. Never gets old. Likewise for Ramen.

Ate this exact ramen at their branch in Odaiba, the soup is virtually liquid pork. Noodles and toppings were good, but as you get to the end the broth just overpowers your tastebuds with its richness. Still a good meal tho.

No wonder all the other recipes looked so wrong! They boiled pork meat only for a few hours and used the same meat for topping. I am no expert, but I knew it! Pork bones soup base and baked crispy pork meat for topping! Mouthwatering! I go make!

@kookiefookie60 I'm sure you'll love it! It's quite hard to find many meals in Japan that do not involve some type of fish (which im not too fond of), so I do love a nice big bowl of steaming hot Ramen to fill me up! Theres tons of huts located in the countryside around Kyoto that roll the dough, cut the noodles, and boil them right infront of your eyes, made to order! One thing I hate about the packets, however, is that they want you to microwave/boil the noodles in the stock. Separate them!
@PatronOfTea12 жыл бұрын
I've had the pleasure of indulging in a glorious bowl of tonkotsu ramen (at a ramen restaurant called ichido, on the 9th floor of Hakata station in Fukuoka) and it was like the ambrosia of the gods (well, Japanese gods I suppose). Once you've had a taste cup ramen just doesn't cut it anymore.

Not all ramen are created equal. That's why they line up when they hear about a good restaurant. Large part of it comes from the quality of the noodle and the taste of soup. The size of the portion, variety of toppings take second place. Even if you find a ramen restaurant locally, you don't expect the best tasting ramen you can find in Japan, because no competition is there. The competition makes the quality of the ramen better.

HOLLY SH-MOKES.....This ramen looks great. Where can I get this in L.A.?
@ruhtraeel14 жыл бұрын
@Allawahguy No. The point I'm trying to get across is, the "official" way it is spelled is not exactly the way it is said in Cantonese. The only reason most people would recognize it that way is because the British have established that spelling for many many years. Also, I've never heard anyone say "s-i-euh", only "s-ee-w".
If i was rich i would fly to japan everyday just to eat those noodles.

@plexitone Yes, NYC now has quite a few Ramen shops. Ramen is finally "hot" in the U.S. Me, I got the urge when I first saw the movie, "Tampopo". This ramen looks fantastic. The broth must have a fantastic flavor after 60 hrs of simmering. Can you imagine?

@kookiefookie60 Well they do, but it wouldn't be considered Tonkatsu ramen, since that means pork bone, although many restaurants use that term to refer to breaded and fried pork, similar to a German Schnitzel. Ramens containing chicken or beef broth, however, dont usually contain slices of meat, unless you find a really good place that serves Tan Tan Ramen. This version is quite spicy (which i very much like), and is usually served with barbecued beef :)
