Massive Celtic fan myself, right from early 80's , never heard of tony Adams as I grew up in Ireland through the hard times. As A hoops fan I Traveled to a game with a bunch of Irish Man U fans to old Trafford for kids of hardship. not going to lie had nothing for either club, to cut it short United went one up, but all game I kept asking who's the big lump for Arsenal at the back, got strange looks lol Manc lent forward and said he's called Tony Adams, Sitting in the wrong seat lol I said well he's one fucking cracking defender, he's barley put a foot wrong all game, Near the end big T scored a cracking header from a corner to make it one all, He stood out all game you would need to have ben blind to see it. Top class defender . Respect.

Celtic arsenal whatever we are all looking for characters I love Scotland but see it as another country I wish there wasn't all the shite between England and Scotland we should just be good neighbours, anyways I love Andy Murray in the same way I love Adams because his a fighter and thats the useful example to take from sports men and women

Don’t underestimate what an achievement 22 years (& counting) without a drop of alcohol is for a former alcoholic. This man is a true hero.

As a huge arsenal fan as a kid, I remember hearing about issues with Tony and alcohol. I remember not really understanding but wondering if this made him a bad person. When I see this now as an adult its incredibly powerful to reflect on. Fantastic work Tony

Great interview. His autobiography is very different to other footballers’ memoirs, because it isn’t just the chronologising of his career. It also charts his descent into, and recovery from alcoholism. You don’t have to be alcoholic or a football fan to find it inspiring either. Alcoholics can read his book, recognise some of the symptoms and think; “ that’s me, that’s what I’m doing to my family and friends, I need help. “ They can read his book and think; “ if I hold out a hand and ask for help, I can then get it, and AA and such places are really helpful and supportive. “ And they can read the chapter called My Name Is Tony, and think; “ this is what’s in store for me once I start asking for help and getting it. “ If you’re alcoholic or any other type of addict, please go and get help, it’ll be the biggest and bravest thing you’ll ever do.

There's a couple of questions I would really like to know the answers too. 1. Why wasn't he at the final game at Highbury, when a lot of ex players were? 2. Why didn't he play in play In Martin Keown's testimonial, when he could've played for either Arsenal or England?
@TokyoJoe7034 жыл бұрын
He’s suffered some real lows trying to get his coaching career off the ground. The temptation to drink must’ve been immense
