Hi there, I hope you like this movie reaction of Iron Man 2, when I watch if for the first time! I feel like now I'm fully on the Marvel train! Which Marvel movie is your favourite and which hero is your favourite? Let me know!
I'm totally loving the evolution of Tony Stark and Pepper! If you're wondering why I didn't recognize Scarlett Johansson who I just watched in Jojo Rabbit, it's because this one was recorded earlier :D.

I remember at a midnight screening of this movie, when Thor’s hammer appeared, a man a few rows down screamed out “oh my god yes!” And began to cry. Dude went full fanatic! Ok confession time. That man was me. I absolutely lost my mind and could not hold it in. Being a 7 year old in the 90s and reading the comics was everything to me, an to see my childhood heroes on the big screen is something I would have never though I’d see.

As a kid in the 90s that only really watched the cartoons (that mainly being spiderman and x-men), when thors hammer appeared I was all like "wait, huh? what is that?" I never read the comics. But still, the sneak peak, and for me, the mystery of what was coming next was so cool!

Sara from "Adventures In Babysitting" would have had the same reaction. I had a similar reaction when Thanos appeared at the end of the Avengers. It had been rumored, but I wouldn't allow myself to believe it until I saw it for myself. So, when Thanos stood, turned, and smiled, I was 110% all-in.

in the movie theater, it was like den den den, the first hint of the mcu was back in the 1980s with the two movies, Adventures in Babysitting , when they kept teasing Thor the god of Thunder from Marvel comics and Howard the Duck, a movie by George Lucas , who made Star Wars and got a golden ticket from Hollywood to make any movie he wanted. so he picked the one character that he knew no one would make a movie about, he knew they would maka a Spiderman and HULK and Iron Man, but he picked the underdog and made a movie about him.

I find the bit with Pepper being sick at 5:17 funny because I recently re-watched CONTAGION, which Paltrow appeared in after this film, and her character was Patient Zero in the beginning of that film. I love how Justin Hammer represents how Stark was before he stopped manufacturing weapons. Hammer's misanthropic charisma isn't that dissimilar than Tony's. I'm pretty certain Sam Rockwell was strongly considered for the role of Tony Stark, he's probably the only other actor working today that could pull the role off like Downey did. Also, sad bit of trivia: DJ AM who appears at 12:17 died of a drug overdose shortly after filming his cameo for this movie.

"he is the creator of Ironman Spiderman Hulk The Avengers and more." CO-creator. He had collaborators on most of these, usually Jack Kirby (though for Spider-Man it was Steve Ditko). The so-called "Marvel method" was that instead of the writer writing a script which the artist would then illustrate, Lee and Kirby would chat about story ideas, then Kirby would draw all the art without the dialogue, and then Stan would go in and add the dialogue. So Kirby's role in creating the characters and stories was at least as big as Lee's (many argue that it was bigger).

If I remember correctly, back in phase 1, we didn't know what movies were coming. Marvel obviously did (they planned ahead), but we, as the fans, were always dealt the next film in the after credits scene. Phase 1 was such an experimental time for the MCU...it was about taking superhero films and making them serious feats of cinema (whereas before that most of them...outside of the first 2 Sam Raimi Spider-Man's and the first 2 X-Men films weren't taken very seriously),, and to get us to the first Avengers film...which was a huge team up movie that was doomed to fail at the time (no one could imagine them pulling off what you'll eventually see they did). After Phase 1 was such a massive success Marvel just up and told us the entire slate for Phase 2, then did the same when it was time for time for Phase 3 (and have since done the same for Phase 4). We know what to expect NOW...but back then it pure mystery, but in the best way possible.

Early in the MCU they didn't really announce their film schedule like they did towards the end. So people were genuinely unsure what movie (if any) might come next. It was still early enough there was some apprehension that they could put it all together and keep all these franchises going. Anyway, everyone could speculate since they introduced so many elements of The Avengers already that we would get films involving those characters to one degree or another (full films for each one or maybe like Natasha, Black Widow, where they make their appearance but aren't in their own movie...yet) and there had been public statements about all that as well. Honestly it was more fun for me not knowing what might come next without publicized schedules and stuff.

When the Iron Man and Hulk came out, I saw it in the theater. Outside the movies there was no hint it was a series. I was not on the Internet at the time. (of course they have to adapt and change some things) soon the movies will start to tie in tighter and the overall arc for the universe will become clearer

Here's all the one-shots and when to watch them: - A funny thing happened on the way to Thor's hammer (right before or after THOR) - The Consultant (right after THOR) - Item 47 (right after THE AVENGERS) - Agent Carter (not to be confused with the TV show, after THE AVENGERS) - All-hail the King (right after IRON MAN 3)

Hey, Marijchu! The second Iron Man entry is a total blast that ups the ante of the first film by having Tony ride high on the celebrity of his public declaration as well as suffer privately from deadly blood poisoning caused by his arc reactor, create a new element as well as a new suit, contend with a vengeful technical genius as well as a corporate antagonist and engage in a colossal three-way armored battle for the climax! The Hammer-Vanko storyline is clearly a tribute to one of Iron Man's signature arcs -- "Armor Wars" -- wherein Tony has to shut down every operation that's appropriated stolen StarkTech including SHIELD! This is also the only film to touch on Tony's alcoholism which should have been the subject of a whole movie as it is CENTRAL to the character. The legendary "Demon in a Bottle" arc has Tony hit rock bottom and turn over his Iron Man duties to James Rhodes which would have been some great material for both Robert Downey, Jr. and Don Cheadle as the new 'Rhodey' replacing Terrence Howard. The film boasts an incredible cast with RDJ portraying Tony Stark in full manic mode as a man keenly aware of his imminent mortality yet in simultaneous aggressive denial. He is supported by a nakedly envious Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer, a menacingly bemused Mickey Rourke as Ivan Vanko aka Whiplash, a lusciously lethal Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanov aka Black Widow and an earnest, exasperated Don Cheadle as Lt. Col. James 'Rhodey' Rhodes aka War Machine. Garry Shandling even shows up in a small role he reprises elsewhere in the MCU as Senator Stern. The "His Girl Friday"-like romantic banter between Tony and Gwyneth Paltrow's Virginia 'Pepper' Potts remains a comic highlight with Clark Gregg's Agent Phil Coulson serving as a great straight man. I also really like John Slattery's contribution as elder Howard Stark who looms so large in Tony's life. Slattery's portrayal in Stark's promotional recordings is a hybrid of a young Howard Hughes and a middle-aged Walt Disney. Of course, Jon Favreau as Harold 'Happy' Hogan and Paul Bettany as JARVIS return. Perpetually p***ed-off Sam Jackson as Col. Nick Fury swings by to drop some dark Stark legacy in Tony's lap as well as drop a hint of Asgardian doings in the Southwest. Leslie Bibb returns as journalist Christine Everhart as does Tim Guinee as USAF Major Allen. Kate Mara has a bit part as a process server and Elon Musk appears as himself! TRIVIA: 1. Natasha's belt buckle carries her sigil which is the red angular hourglass shape that is found on the actual backs of black widow spiders. 2. The events of "Iron Man 2", "The Incredible Hulk" and "Thor" all occur during one week in MCU-time called Fury's Big Week! EASTER EGGS: 1. The half-finished, star-spangled convex object Tony uses to balance his makeshift particle accelerator is a prototype of Captain America's shield! 2. While Tony reads his psych evaluation by Natasha, one of the holo-screens shows a field reporter covering the aftermath of Hulk's Culver University rampage! 3. The kid in the Iron Man helmet Tony saves from the drone at the Expo is a pre-Spider-Man Peter Parker! CAMEO: 1. Stan Lee shows up as Larry King complete with suspenders as Tony descends the escalator from the opening Stark Expo! END-CREDIT SCENE: 1. The end-credit scene is actually an excerpt from "Thor" which shows Coulson arriving in New Mexico at the crater made by the impact of Thor's fallen hammer, Mjolnir. The next chronological stop in the MCU is a featurette called a One-Shot that occurs at the end of "Iron Man 2" prior to the end-credit scene which is actually a clip from "Thor". "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer" serves as a little prelude to "Thor" as Coulson travels to New Mexico and stumbles onto some unexpected action. It is found on the "Captain America: The First Avenger" blu-ray or on vimeo.com/140163807

Mari, really really amazing reaction's and comments. I loved it when Tony changed into his suit as the race track. Your read into the villain knowing he could just build it again and also that he was going to control the suits. You will really like Thor. It has the same mixture of comedy and action. Thank you for a great video and looking forward to the next one. Stay Safe and well. Let's gooooo,

My favorite MCU film is "Captain America: The First Avenger". The Cap trilogy is easily the best in the MCU; most people, I think, would go with either 2 (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) or 3 (Captain America: Civil War) as the best - and they're both great - but I just love how wholesome the first one is. There's one scene in particular that *perfectly* encapsulates Cap's character; at that point, I could relax because I knew the people behind the movie knew what they were doing, that I could trust them to do his character justice. (Unlike the Rand fanboy Zack Snyder with regards to Superman.) The final few movies in the MCU really hit so hard - the characters, the relationships, the choices - in a way that resonates so much because of the long journey we took with all the characters up to that point. So maybe one of the final ones is better, more enjoyable, but as a stand-alone experience, I'll choose The First Avenger. I love boy scout heroes like Cap (and Superman, and I think Cyclops is often that way; I think it's such a shame that James Marsden wasn't given more to do in the early X-Men movies. I'm not thinking about Westworld, and how he was wasted as a good actor; I'm thinking of Sex Drive, and how he was wasted as a charming, funny guy).

I also liked how the Agent Carter TV series fleshed out some corners of the Iron Man and Cap story lines. Howard, Peggy, and Edwin are all pretty cool.

@@PhilBagels Really? That's shocking to me; I thought the Cap trilogy being the best was pretty much unanimous; I've just seen so many people choosing both Civil War and The Winter Soldier as their favorites, and Iron Man 2 and 3 being... fun, but flawed. There's one obvious problem with 3 - a character that people were disappointed by - that didn't bother me because I didn't know him and so didn't have any expectations, so I actually liked the performance... although I of course understand why those people were disappointed. So I liked 3 more than most. But still... um, not sure if you care, but here's a video talking about how Civil War is the best comic book movie ever: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6rbp4Cuep17r8k Like I said, I actually prefer The First Avenger, but he makes a compelling case; there's a lot of clever things that I missed when I watched it, and his analysis of it makes me appreciate it so much more. (It has spoilers, obviously, but I assume Mary won't see it, much less click on it. And I'd be surprised if anybody else on here, watching her reactions, hasn't already seen the MCU in its entirety.)

@@zarquondam It's all about "with great power comes no responsibility to your fellow man" so... yeah, that's pretty Randian. His parents push that agenda left and right; both of them (it's not just in Man of Steel, it's echoed again in... BvS, I'm pretty sure.) And the emphasis is always on action over character, on fighting over helping people... which isn't exactly Randian philosophy, but his fingerprints are all over the DCU. To its detriment.

Kevin Feige has a general plan, none of the 2020 movies hit theaters, so the plan had to be adjusted, and Disney bought Fox so they have access to another 5,000 or so characters for the MCU. And some wish list items, there's some actor/character matches that would be fun but aren't realistic. When they make a movie, the writer and director (not Kevin) are totally focused on making the best movie possible - if that messes up The Plan, well fine. And writers like to add callbacks that nobody planned on.
