I think the reason that the Tonys aren't that fashionable is that you don't become a theatre actor if you want media/red carpet attention - you go to Hollywood. Theatre has very few red carpets. You'll notice the 'best dressed' people here are film actors who can afford Hollywood stylists.
@evelynd92402 жыл бұрын
Also, theatre actors, for the most part, tend to not be as wealthy as the actors that routinely show up to Hollywood red carpet events. They don't have stylists, they don't have relationships with brands usually, they're just theatre actors who happen to be doing a show on Broadway.

I think part of why Vanessa didn't do the head piece is the sorta "diva" stigma in theatre; the theatre world isn't so focused on fashion because everyone is working their asses off to get where they are then. If Vanessa showed up in that she would stick out, probably get some side eye, even though she is absolutely iconic enough to do so- there's more of an emphasis on professionalism in the theatre world.

I always feel people who are theatre actors are people who are doing the true heavy lifting when it comes to acting. And just like for most people fated to do heavy lifting, the Tonys red carpets are not as acknowledged or hyped, and yet this is the red carpet I usually have the most hope for, fashion wise. Sighs. I adore Jordan Roth and Sarah Paulsen's looks! Judith Light looks beautifully tasteful in Thom Browne.

Traditionally a GIGOT sleeve (mutton leg from the butcher cut of lamb or sheep) is a large sleeve head that suddenly tapers to the wrist. Early constructions had a major puff and possibly an elbow seam and tight from the elbow to wrist, then developed to a smaller sleeve head in the Edwardian era- no elbow seam and tapering to a tight wrist.... more like the cut of meat from which the sleeve was named. The sleeves you were naming gigot in the critique would be termed puff sleeves, on or off the shoulder. Only writing this because I know you like to acquire construction knowledge , its not a snooty critique and if I am wrong please let me know.
