Tony Bennett Dead At 96: Elton John, Keith Urban, Viola Davis, & George Takei React

Hollywood is mourning a music icon. Legendary singer Tony Bennett passed away on Friday at age 96, and fellow stars and musicians are honoring his memory across social media. Bennett's publicist confirmed the sad news to Access Hollywood, revealing that the celebrated vocalist died in his hometown of New York City. A cause of death was not immediately made public, but Bennett was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease in 2016. He performed his final concert with friend and collaborator Lady Gaga five years later. A 20-time Grammy winner whose career spanned more than 70 years, Bennett is survived by wife Susan Benedetto, two sons, Danny and Dae Bennett, daughters Johanna Bennett and Antonia Bennett, and nine grandchildren. Elton John, Keith Urban, Viola Davis and George Takei were among the first celebrities to share their condolences for Bennett's loss.

Oh no, that's terrible.😢 I remember his last concert he did with Lady Gaga where Gaga asked him to sing 'Fly Me to the Moon'. Such a beautiful moment. We lost a legend today. When I was long-haired kid in the 70's listening to KISS, ELO, REO, and BTO to name a few, I always took time to listen to what mom and dad were playing. It was those times that formed my love of lyrics and melody. I never told my friends until I heard our own icons speak of him. When we heard our "juke box heros" talk of him it made it ok for me to do so as well. If you don't think he is a Rock Icon, ask the Rock Icons, and never be afraid of what real music means to you...Say hi to my folks Mr. Benedetto, they loved you more than any other "bar singer". I'm old now, so it's OK to shed a little tear.
