Go further. The Gospels (Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John [this is the order each book was written in]), were written by people who never met Yeshua (Jesus). I was fortunate to have a grandmother who was open to this very kind of thought expressed by this gentleman. In fact an Italian class mate of hers in Normal School here in Chicago in the 1930s told her a lot about the Africans in their history in Europe subsequently my probing questions got good answers. @@freshfade28 I had about the same story. I was raised Methodist, and studied the bible fervently into adulthood. In 2007 I was researching politics/Obama, and came across the movie, Zeitgeist. I started to research other religions and how they have very similar stories about a messiah. Also, I started to research parts of the bible that were edited, when, and why the powers that be would edit these things. Particularly the Roman's influence on Christianity.

The pronunciation of these names were different in their original languages. For example, Jesus was Isa and Joseph was Yusef, and Jacob was Yacub. In Spanish Jesus is spelled with a j, but it is pronounced as if it starts with the letter H. The name is less important that the meaning in the bible. The words need to mean the same in translation. The word fag in American us is a derogatory term for homosexuals but in England it means cigarette. An angel told Joseph his child would be called Immanuel. But Jesus is never called Immanuel in the bible. However, Immanuel means God with us. Since Jesus is God his presence on earth fulfilled the meaning of the name. Regarding no "J" letter. The letter "I" had the I and J sound dending on use. Similarly to the letter "Q" having different sounds based on use.
