Tony G respects Ivey, that's why he didn't call the clock like he did on Robl, Hellmuth, or Tilly hahahah
@damland13572 жыл бұрын
That’s also why he played this hand strangely, raising so big on the turn is the only way to cause confusion in Phil Iveys mind

Only getting 1.5 to 1. Looks like a fold. Half the time he's crushed, half the time he's ahead by a little.

Brutal spot. Especially since Phil had a blocker for BOTH flush draws.

Beautifully played by tony g against a good player. Most people check raise sets. And it doesn’t make sense to really have a jack here and if you did have like J8 of hearts you wouldn’t jam the turn right. Feels like a combo draw 68 of clubs or something
@RodJeez2 жыл бұрын
You could jam to play it like a bluff
@1yearrvp2 жыл бұрын
Phil is obviously one of the best, but that was definitely not a good call. Phil could have waited for Tony to blast-off in a far better spot, as he didn't beat any set, 2-pair, or a Jack.
@RodJeez2 жыл бұрын
Wow yeah I mean he didn't have a premium hand so it was a bad call! What a great analysis
@DovisVideo2 жыл бұрын
@@RodJeez hahaha that was my reaction too, fkin fish explainers i swear
@RodJeez2 жыл бұрын
@@DovisVideo this mentality only works in straight forward low stakes game with people who over commit. A lot of bluff and meta play happens on the higher levels, and back then it was a bit strange
@michaelangst60782 жыл бұрын
It was ok.. You fold in spots like this all the time with the way the hand played you're def over folding
@ozrenbalic60512 жыл бұрын
@@RodJeez and your analysis was great? Mumbling something about low stakes games, meta play, and high level poker. Betting and then calling nearly 7 times the raise, after an overcard came, while blocking both flush draws, was certainly a bad play. Just because he is Phil Ivey doesn't mean every play he has ever made was good .

Tony G is a great player but he has a tell. I've seen a lot of hands of his and Phil knows it too I think which is why he knows he's beat but can't help himself. Phil has a weakness in his game too that players can exploit but you also need to be a solid player to beat him in the long run even if you know this.
