I would've never EVER guessed that one day full grown men over the age of 45 or 50 would be riding their skateboard with a tear jerking passion, giving it their all and what an all it is ! Just amazing to watch. Mike Frazier really stood out along with Sandro & Bucky. I never payed much attention to Frazier in my days. His style is mind blowing, big, fat and tricky. Skateboarding is just the most beautiful sport in the world. Period.

I got to see Christian Hosoi and Tony Magnusson in 1987 at Six Flags in St. Louis while on vacation. For 2 13 year old boys from South Louisiana to get to see the guys in the magazines in person. We still talk about it still to this day. Also saw Rodney Mullen that day. But the Bert skating is what it was all about. Hosoi had an impact on us back then. But later on it was Tony Hawk and then I loved the H Street skaters. Matt Hensley and Sal Barbier were my all time favorites.

Saw Bucky skate live at the X games like 25 years ago on a ramp this high. The TV really doesn't do the ramp justice. They look fkn huge IRL. I've dropped in on some 10 footers and that was scary enough. I'd shit my pants just standing on the coping let alone dropping in on something this size.💩😂

Only problem is I bet youd be hard pressed to find a vert ramp anywhere these days, unlike the 80s when bowls and verts were everywhere, todays skate parks are just mostly rails to grind, not much vert at all, kick flips and grinds. Times indeed change and we all know we can’t turn back time no matter how hard we wish or try.✌🏻

I'm so stoked that skateboarding is finally getting some respect. When I started in 1986, I was considered a vagrant nuisance and spent way more time than anyone should have to being bounced by police, business owners, school officials, government lame-o's and everyone else who didn't get it. I was already riding to escape a crappy home and could find nowhere to go where I was accepted. Other skaters were my family and the only people who showed me love. Skateboarding was, and is again at 46, the only time I feel truly free. No matter your appearance, background, financial status, progression level or preferred skate style or discipline, you have a home with skateboarders.
