Although he was underrated this guy was one of the greatest receivers in Cowboys history. In 1979 he Drew Pearson, and Tony Dorsett were the first trio of players in NFL history to gain over 1000 yards in a season, Hill and Pearson both had over 1000 yards receiving, and Dorsett had over 1000 yards rushing. Solid reciever, and 3 time All-Pro!

He should be in the Ring of Honor. Check the Cowboys team stats from 1978-85. Each year Hill was the team's leading receiver.

Hill is one of those franchise players that I don't scream about not being in the Ring Of Honor but if, for some reason, he was ever put in there---I'd have no problem with it.

I liked Harper, but he wasn't anywhere close to the receiver Hill was. Hill should be in the Cowboys Ring of Honor and he's borderline NFL Hall of Famer.

Tony hill had so many big catches. Only td the steelers gave up in 1st quater all year was in sb 13 by tony hill. Monday night football 1st game of the season against sb champs redskins hill catches long tds from danny white that brought us back from down 23-3. To win 31-30. Next year big td catches in 1st half again redskins even though we lost 30-28. We led at half 21-6. Great speed great routes perfect pass catching techniques. Should be in roh

Fun trivia about Tony Hill: In 2000 Tony appeared as a contestant on my favorite game show, the short-lived Fox game show called Greed. Ironically he was a wide-receiver on the Dallas Cowboys but he was the captain of his team. Unfortunately his team ended up losing on the $500,000 question on some question about cars and ended up going home with empty pockets but I still find that wildly fascinating that a football star like him ended up being a team captain. Still love Tony and hope he's doing well today.

I remember his appearance on Greed. His question had something to do with the top worldwide automakers. He was my favorite Cowboy during his playing days and belongs in the ROH

There's one play (I want to say vs either the Eagles or the Giants) where Dallas was the road team in the early 80s where Hill caught an underthrown bomb, turned around and saw he only had one DB to beat. Then he slowly approached the DB and with one hand, shrugs him aside and trots into the end zone. I'd love to see that play if you can find it.

If Drew is in Canton so should be Tony Hill. He caught more yards than Drew in less time and ended his career as the Cowboys all time receiver. He was absolutely explosive and a perennial big play threat. If he’s not in the HOF because most of his catches came from Danny White rather than from Roger Staubach, well guess what, Danny threw more TDs than Roger.
@soylentteal Жыл бұрын
Never understood what happened between him and the team after the ‘86 season. When they let him go, they said he was “overweight.” He never played again. The following year, when they were undermanned at WR and losing more than winning, someone observed, “bet Hill doesn’t look so overweight, now.”
