Traditional and Original Muay Thay, the successor of Muay Boran demonstrated by Tony Jaa. The Muay Thai we see now adays in sports only have a essence of it. The True Muay Thay was meant for handling multiple enemies and using the whole body as a weapon which is called the "Art of 8 Limbs"

I can't believe cambodia took this and made it its national martial art. No one has seen a Bokator in the early 1900's., Thailand was occupying Cambodia for 100 or so years in the Rattanakosin era and there was no recording. No tourist or had ever seen a Bokator too. Cambodians straight up just copied this without shame.

*Some facts about Muay Korat* General Amnat Pookrisuk is a senior military officer who in his spare time teaches his own interpretations of Muay Veti (Muay Thai) to foreigners. Throughout his military career he has never fought in a boxing ring. He was never qualified as a Muay Thai teacher (Krob Kru) and is only an admirer of this sport. His famous „water buffalo technique“ comes from the (supposedly fictional) stories of Ajarn Ket Sriyapai. Amnat likes to teach outside Thailand when he is on a business trip. Because he is a senior member of the military, he cannot be prosecuted. He knows many Thaiboxers through his participation in the betting business at Lumpini Stadium. He only learned Judo and Taekwondo from his military training. He mixed these styles with normal Muay Thai techniques and exports them abroad. Occasionally he claims to be able to do Ling Lom, but this is not true. Muay Korat was never in a Muay Thai fight and can neither be called an ancient nor a pure Thai martial art. Source: Pantip. com (dig deep and you’ll find what they don’t want you to know! 🤫)

I was happier not knowing he was just speaking random shit while doing awesome moves.
@dextersbeard34723 жыл бұрын
It's not random, it is the same with kung fu styles, each movement/technique has a name. For Example in Tiger/Crane form in the style I learned you see individual techniques like these.. Tony Jaa is demonstrating in the scene what he was taught to his teacher so he is naming the movements as he does them, thus showing he has learned not just the movement but the names or each technique. Each movement has a specific name for a specific reason, for example when I was teaching others I would yell out the names of techniques as we went through then, names like "Hungry Tiger Catches Lamb" because the movements were inspired by watching animals and their movements, it also let's you picture the fast stron and ripping movements and energy you should be exerting. In most traditional martial art systems techniques are names after animals movements or actions one does while working etc. Another example of a technique we would do would be "leading horse to stable" because in the technique you make a grabing motion into 2 fists and swing them across you body as you turn as the hips. It resembles putting all your weight and muscle into pulling a horse by a rope..so the lesson being those are not random things he's yelling out, they describe the movements, and give each technique a name, so when your teacher wants you to demonstrate something specific he can say the name of the movement, often times the movement gives you something to visualize while practicing which improves your form. I hope that makes sense to you why he did that now.
