Tony is a lovely person, as real as you get, good snooker player, humble comes across sincere.

Wasn’t so humble one Sunday in the 80s . Long queue of cars waiting to board the Windermere ferry and a sports car went zooming past to get to front of queue. The bloke in charge of boarding wasn’t impressed, even if it was Tony Knowles. Made him go to the back again

I must admit at first look I thought this show was ridiculous, but I'm now hooked on these excellent, insightful interviews. The intro just doesn't do them justice :D

As a night watchman doing 14 hour shifts in dead of night..these snooker docs are a godsend. Im stealing money here, got a heater , packet of hobnobs and hours of snookertastic, cctv ignoring double rate pay happiness. Thank you for post. Ill get a nap in then watch rest, only ten hours till morning shift on better get comfy.

I cant begin to say how much I enjoyed this show, I have never had satellite TV, so I had no chance of seeing this at the time. I always liked Tony Knowles, and if memory serves, he won the 6 ball tournament not so long ago, which was no surprise to me. I always wondered why he never made a bigger mark on the snooker Championships, a bit like Mathew Stevens, two players I thought would do better than they did, but are still up there in my top 16 players of all time. This is the best technical discussion I have ever heard about snooker, and there is so much information that is never spoken about, I enjoyed every minute. What a great series, I have not watched them all yet, but the Clive Everton and David Vine episodes were excellent. I always wondered how Clive became a commentator, as nobody ever eludes to how it took place. I have always watched and enjoyed snooker, and I have always though Ronnie was the biggest talent to pick up a cue, I had a very good friend called Jamie, with a very similar style and attitude. He would be having a bad day, and still out playing anyone around him, but he would get upset he was not playing well enough, many a time he has broken his cue in disgust with himself. Thanks for uploading this episode, it answers so many questions about Tony Knowles that I always wanted to know. I would like to hear a similar thing with Mathew Stevens, but that will probably never happen.

Tony came over really well in this interview. Open hearted with great northern honesty and humility, and without any 'side' or attitude. Steve, like many successful modern sportsmen and women, is still the same obsessed ego. His eyes and mouth are saying different things. Time has still not returned the character and personality that it took away from him when it put a cue in his hand.

To be fair … as the host, Steve should let Tony talk. Steve kept trying to interrupt but Tony wouldn’t let him, and went on to finish his point. I was glad he did. And in Steve’s favor, he did a great job creating an atmosphere where the guest feels comfortable enough to talk so in-depth.

Amazing insight into what may happen when you over analyse your game and try to train out the impulsiveness that made you a great player in the first place. The complete opposite of Steve who tried to train in aggressiveness when he should have tried to improve what he was already a master of, his defensive play and counter attack..

How can Steve grin about the Knowles defeat when Tony has just assassinated the idea of Steve being outplayed by a really stellar performance in 1982? Probably by a desire to acquiesce to an establishment where every dual is deemed replete with great play both ways; yawn, and while you're at it, please, please tighten up the pockets and give us some proper drama in 2019!

Couldn't get a straight answer out of Tony. He's not the brightest star in the sky and I can only remember him as a 10% Jimmy White. As for Davis, he just bossed everyone about on the table until Hendry came and then Davis just couldn't cope with the fact that Hendry could do what he did and even better. Hendry burned out fast too as Ronnie and Higgins came about to challenge Hendry and after his 7th world titles he was gone.
