Tony, This is absolutely amazing ! You have so much class and style on top of your legendary catalog and exceptional level of skill on your Instruments . This should shut the door on all top ten lists of drummers. I do have a many favorites. But I also am aware that there are hundreds of great drummers I have yet to know. In the late 70’s I first heard your playing with Gabriel. I remember thinking how amazing I you were . A short time later I see you again, with a new King Crimson. You did a piece with what looked like bass pedals from a pipe organ. Absolutely amazing. Tony, you are really one of a kind. Thank you for putting so much wonderful music into this world ! If you ever see this….. please know I have a small tune on my small channel . The tune is just 3 minutes. If you gave me a listen and made a little comment, that would be the highlight of my music life. It’s the short… “On Red Gardenien Street” ! Love all you do Tony. !!!

Homage, a capella, a wonderful exercise in harmonization and composition, a brain scratcher, and a complex crossword puzzle of names, rhymes and meters. Plus I get to count how many names I recognize of the people that Tony got to meet and play with... it's crazy and creative and unexpected (to me) and I love it! You gave Jacob Collier a run for his money (or could he join your list?) 😊

I don't think Tony ever played with the late Neil Peart - Neil didn't do a lot of gigging with people outside of Rush. Damn, though - if it had ever worked out, that would have been incredible!
@doogie-mk2lq3 ай бұрын
I had the great fortune of crossing paths with Neil when he was riding his motorcycle through the Westen US. It was at a gas station with a cafe attached in the middle of nowhere. At first he was keen to not admit who he was. I told him I had seen Rush four times with 2112 being the last time. And reminded him of the band doing a record store appearance in Portland OR. where they were asked to press their hands in concrete. The store was downtown called "Bananas" but it didn't last very long. So there may be a building down by the waterfront that has Rush handprints in the floor. We were in the desert and the sun is about to go down. He had a late start and was still 60 mi from where he had planned to stay that night. He said he had camping gear, and I told him my house was about a mile and a half away. Also in the middle of nowhere. Told him I had a patch of green grass and he was more than welcome to shower and have bathroom to use. He said "I don't think so, but thank you. I gave him directions and I left. Half an hour later as the sun is going down I heard a motorcycle outside my house where just me and my brother lived. To be continued... If anyone is interested.
