Great song, but I'd like to say a little about Brown Mountain. I live close to Brown Mountain so I've spent most of my 70 years hunting, hiking, riding horses, fishing and swimming in a creek on that mountain. I ain't sayint there is no light, but I've never seen it.

One of the most magical and unusual bluegrass classics. Bring back Saturday nights in the '60s at May and Ray's Broadway Tap on North Broadway in St. Louis...those guys could play! Keep it going!

This is great bluegrass. Tony's voice IMO is a bit like Gordon Lightfoot's and I understand why he sang many of Lightfoot's songs. Thanks for posting.

Absolutely great performance. I don't really see a political correctness problem and I'm pretty liberal (or a commie as some would say). It just speaks of a real historical period. I doubt that there were many cotton plantations anywhere near Brown Mountain, though.

Never stopped to think exactly what constitutes a slave and his master. You only have a context by which you've been taught and that's because you don't know how to think for yourself. The funniest part is, you just labeled yourself a slave but don't even know why... 😅

Yeah well… good luck canceling Tony Rice from the annals of bluegrass. Politically correct can go pound sand in Portland with the rest of the commies.
