This has been one of my favorite songs for a long time, but I keep coming back to it after Tony stepped into the shadows. RIP.

gordon lightfoot is a songwriter par excellence while tony is a guitarist par excellence.one should always remember this before making unnecessary comparisons.anyway this version of shadows is brilliant because tony"s lonesome, hauntingly beautiful bluegrass voice and guitar work beautifully renders the melancholiness of the lyrics of this song.love and power to both tony and gordon from india

Only discovered Tony Rice in the last 10 years maybe. Like discovering a new music genre. His vocals are so calming. His guitar playing is another dimension. 🎶❤️💪✌️🙏

The "Minstrel of the Dawn" who wrote this song - has now also walked on. RIP our Canadian musical poet laureate - Gordon Lightfoot. The Detroit Mariner's Cathedral Bells rang 30 times, this time - 29 for the seamen who perished on The Edmund Fitzgerald - and one for our Gordon. He was Tony's favourite songwriter - and I've no doubt they are playing together, now . . .

Gordon Lightfoot did write this from his 1982 album by the same name. It's a good rendition but not as good as the "Master" himself GL
