Well, sorry. I'd be one of those. I think it is a great song. Gordon Lightfoot's version is magnificent, and so is Alison Krauss's. But this arrangement turns it into a speed display that drowns out all the delicacy and emotion of the song. Sure, the musicianship is top notch, but the speed and riffing are just too overpowering.

I see a few comments regarding Tony not mentioning the songwriter, Gordon Lightfoot. I have not traced this clip yet, but if it was a taped concert performance in front of a Bluegrass audience, that might explain things. Bluegrass/Traditional music fans already know GL wrote “Shadows”, the way a pop music fan knows who wrote “Satisfaction”. TR fans also would know TR as a Lightfoot stylist.

AND..Tony has credited Gordon countless times.

Alison Krauss does a great version. Look I am a huge Lightfoot fan and I know Rice respects and pays respect to Gordon so yes let it go, doing GL's songs are respect in itself and I don't see where he has tried to take credit for his songs. Thank you Tony and Alison for doing great interpretations
