That man's talent never ceased to amaze me. Anyone that's ever tried to play guitar understands how incredible Tony Rice was. RIP my friend.

So sad.. despite his picking and dangerous licks.. he had the most beautiful voice in bluegrass, and you can hear it begin to fail around this time. Heart breaking

Yup. In fact, I first noticed Tony’s voice beginning to falter on an episode of Nashville Now in 1987 featuring the BGAB. It was a steady decline after that.
