Uhoh Sam. As a portfolio manager, the lombard against your investments to fund a car sounds very risky. Let's just say market crashes, which is far from impossible, you're going to have a margin call on your loan and that money will be tied in a (depreciating) physical asset you can't liquidate fast. So you'd have to either fund your account with some other fresh cash, or sell your investments at a loss to cover. Well, hopefully swissquote has already made that clear.

It isn't a scam. Many rich people use loans backed by investments, an added benefit is that the loan isn't seen as income so there's no income tax on it, while the investment remains invested, appreciating in value. The only shady part is what happens to the loan if the investment fails or reduces in value

Ive said it to many people, the ring has not become more dangerous in itself, but the tyre and suspension technology along with the performance of the car have come on so much in the last 10 to 15 years beyond all recognition but the one thing that has gone backwards are the drivers. It is always the faster drivers responsibility but there are a growing number of egos, i tend to drive with headlights on just to get a chance for them to see the little Megane is coming 😂

Sam is 100% right about Tony and the Ring. He'd be way better off on a track day there. Great episode! I went to Goodwood on Friday & then the Ring on Saturday & Sunday. I was wondering whether I’d see Tony, now that he’s a regular there, but didn’t. I think that some of the faster drivers are also part of the problem at the Ring, taking risks in order to chase times. I was no slouch but there was certainly many faster cars there on the day. I was on the concrete section of the Karussell and was dive bombed by a local Boxster Spyder/RS, forcing me wide. If I hadn’t reacted, he would have 100% taken me out. Cars also overtaking inches away on corners, even though I was keeping to the right. Too many crashes this weekend, particularly on the Sunday when the track was closed for around 2 hrs.
