The only reason she stayed with Walt was also cause she knew he was going to die, in combination with the fact that she needed to help Hank pay his medical bills. She tried to love Walt again but couldn't, and became terrified of seeing what he can do as well as how domineering and abusive he had become. Her biggest thing was not wanting the kids to find out the truth about their father, and just let sleeping dogs lie once the cancer finally killed him.

I agree. Thats why I specify that we are trading Skyler White from later in the series. I was originally thinking of it in terms of if they grew up together to account for that, but it just ended up changing Skyler to be more like Carmela and vice versa. So, I decided to go this route. Walt Jr was smart and capable though. What Tony hated about AJ was that he was perceived as weak, with terrible academic achievement and no ambition. Where Walt Jr was disabled but still capable of taking care of himself similar to Svetlana who also was capable of deploying websites, also like Patsi's son who also made Tony jealous. AJ got a SUV and complained about pollution, Walt Jr got a muscle car and happily went on a ride with his dad

The combination of Walt and Carmela would result in Walt being a guest of the government within a matter of months, not because Carmela would rat him out or even deliberately do something to put his liberty in jeopardy; she'd do it inadvertently, by making a mistake in how she stole (ahem, "allocated") from Walt's financial gains, or by buying something so over the top that it would immediately arouse suspicion. The combination of Tony and Skylar, however, would result in one of the two being killed in a domestic violence event or straight-up murder. Skylar is in some respects as borderline between moral and amoral as Tony, which would make for a far more interesting "swap."

I’d have to agree with your analysis in all areas except Walt Jr. I think you were a little harsh on him. Sure he was much more comfortable telling his parents what he thought than AJ, but he always did it out of love and general concern. Plus, he was usually pretty lighthearted about it. He showed more love and respect for Walt than Meadow or AJ ever showed Tony.

After many rewatches of both series, I can clearly conclude that Skyler was probably the main reason why Walt lacked ambition throughout his life. She was the main driving force that kept him down, not talking about his drug business either. From the get go you can see how Skyler was Walt's "safe" choice as in "safe from taking risks" and "happy" with the mediocre lifestyle they had. I really doubt that even if Walt's ambitions led to him to become a legitimate entrepreneur, she would have been the "rock" for him, but rather a force that undermined him at every step of the way.

If AJ started with Walt as a father I think he would act out in much different ways. Tony’s intensity doesn’t keep AJ in line at all, it only makes him act out more and more as the series progresses A fundamental characteristic of Skylar is that she enjoys doing bad shit (ex: exploiting Bogdan) but she does it out of fear for her own situation and that of her family. Walter was the danger, but that invited much more threats (ex: gasoline, cousins with axes, Gus threatening Holly’s life) and seeing the scary side of Walter only made her feel even less safe. Kim and Walter both admit that they did their schemes because it was fun, but that was never Skylar’s reason

I think the Skylar-Tony house hold would be better at dealing with the kids than the Walter-Carmella House I think Skylar tony would work better than expected. Season 1 Skylar never. But Season 5 Skylar would be very attracted to Tony's Power and security. I think she would help tony a little with financials but obviously not completely. But instead of spending tony's money she might invest it and become a top earner herself to gain respect and reputation within the gang Walter Jr.: Tony would probably dislike walter Jr. because he's bratty and weak. but after an outburst about respect and a skylar lecture, Tony would realize that he had a shitty hand dealt to him and take the kid to the strip join. There Walt jr. would be introduced the the life and he would have an active investment into becoming at least affiliated with the Soprano crew. His sexual desire being completely tied to his success in the mob life. Being an outsider, a cripple and decently intelligent, he will be able to navigate the life better than the other kids. As for medow you hit the nail on the head. Plus Skylar has contacts in the law industry so Medow will have a great career. As for A.J., Skylar will actually listen to his problems and try to seek active help for him. when AJ starts dating that mom, Skylar will take a vested interest in making sure AJ isn't taking his relationship for granted as he did in the Sopranos. In the Walter-Carmella house, it would be Chaos. Carmella has a High standard of living. Wants complete plausible deniability. Walter can't scare her like he did with skylar. Carmella has been around dangerous people her whole life. She's just brush it off and find a subversive method of revenge. If Walter does go violent I think she can find a way to get him killed. Walter can only predict active malevolance. But Carmella just acts on instinct (like when she seduced the teacher for her child) She doesn't understand that it's manipulative. It's just an instinct she has. Also Being Catholic, her being divorced is a sin so there's Zero reason to stay faithful. AJ would probably get into trouble. without money Medow has no reason to stay. and walter jr. would be dominated by carmella and probably be even more bratty and annoying than before. Carmella might even encourage the behavior.

Hard to say. They both nag too much, in my opinion. However, when it comes to physical attractiveness/hotness/sexiness, i go Carmela all the way, 100%, no questions asked. HOWEVER, on the other hand, when it comes to self-reliance and even a potential partner-in-crime in the need should arrise, well then it's Skylar--no brainer, and no pun intended. Carmela is pretty much worthless when it comes to anything besides spending and even stealing Tony's illegal income, raising two spoiled children, and she calls herself a homemaker, yet she has a maid come in to clean that entire mini-mansion several times per week. Meanwhile Skylar is an overqualified bookkeeper for what turns out to be a crooked boss, and she even turns out to be a fine crook in her own right as she becomes Walter's own "money man," or "money woman" if you will. Or what they used to call a "mob accountant." So, at the end of the day, I'll take Skylar. She's not horrible looking, and she has the brains and "balls" to help with the "family business" when and/or if needed. On the contrary, if Carm was put in the same or similar situation she'd flounder like a deoxygenated bonefish; or if she had to try and work at a grocery store stocking groceries or even in the floral department where she probably thinks she'd florish, she'd fail just as swift and surely. Bottomline is, without Tony, Carmela struggles mightily and moves back in with her parents and AJ. Without Walt (and if it werent for the BS Walt left her to deal with), Skylar at least makes ends meet without panicking, and at best, shes able to find another job in finance and makes 6 figures and makes a fine home for Baby Heisenbery and Flynn.
