I am sure happy I stumbled onto this interview. I don't think anybody could give as honest an interview than Tony just gave now. I have always kept an eye on NASCAR my whole life. I am 70 years old now. But when Tony started his Nascar career I was about to pick my favorite driver. I miss him competing but I still root for his cars. A fellow Hoosier cannot be all bad.

Tony doesn’t understand how bad his was. Dale Sr hit the wall at 188mph. He come off the wall at 150mph. He only had a 38mph loss in velocity is it. I’ve had a patient killed from basilar skull fracture occipital/ temporal breaks. He hit at 27mph and did not have a Hans or hybrid. People think basilar skull fractures are a high speed impact event. This is not the case. Out of all of my patients with lethal fractures. They all had a velocity loss of 50mph or less. Slowest was 22mph. It doesn’t take any speed at all to do it. Airbags in vehicles are a HANS device it’s meant to keep the head in a safe position from having a basilar skull fracture. If you have a cage with no crush points. You gotta have the head tied down.

@Bryan Powell I don’t think he was talking about that crash, he meant the one before Dale Sr died. When Tony flipped his car, Sr’s crash was really terrible.

“Skip that night of racing” ? Should’ve skipped that part where he forced a much faster car off the track , or skipped that part where he throttle-steers into/over a guy standing on the track

Me too, it’s horrible. Can you imagine just being at the hospital getting x-Ray and MRI and then the next thing you know your next to your dead friend? It’s horrible.
@patrickgray56332 жыл бұрын
Yup hard to imagine & don’t want to imagine being in a hospital room & next thing you see is your friend laying there dead. Someone told me once they heard Sr his eye balls popped out. That to me if it happened makes it sick that people tried to get autopsy photos released.
