Hey my main Monster (and friends), this show keeps getting funnier and better. The smaller core of main people riffing with guests popping in and out keeps it moving. Everyone now on the show seems to know how to "yes, and" their way to punch lines so the 3 hours just flow properly. Loved the cold open, def build on that. The Dr D stuff is great too, have you thought about any other preproducted skits or segs to throw to in case the conversation gets stuck? Might give people a chance to refocus themselves, talking that much can be exhausting. Keep up the good work!

Great show and the guests were awesome. Alfred and Apollo were my favorites going back and forth. I'm a bit disappointed that no one picked up on the "Half Baked" joke that Disciplinary Committee put out there at the very end. "Cause you know I be strippin' in the evenings."

I gave AEW a shot when they first debuted. I thought it was like a throwback to Nitro, where everything took place in the ring, whether it be matches or promos. It has promise, but clearly it was a mess though. There was no leader who was overseeing everything like a Vince McMahon. That was what the company needed day 1. Every segment I would watch had different levels of quality, as if I were watching different promotions altogether. Characters were either too bland or too bizarre, it was hard to stay focused, and it certainly didn't help that most of them didn't have promos or segments that explained who they were or why they're there. The first women's champion doesn't want to move to America and still hasn't to this day. The most WWE-esque thing they booked in 2019 was Kris Statlander. It's her gimmick, but it was later revealed that Cody was very high on her and at least Brandi and Dustin had a hand in booking her at that point. It's like why couldn't Dynamite get more of that? The company definitely had a foundation to cultivate characters. Britt Baker could have been a psycho dentist that could have tried to take one of her teeth to determine whether or not she was a real alien. Sammy Guevara could have been a wannabe tough guy that thinks he's more macho than he actually is, and it could have made for entertaining TV. The Jurassic Express could have been a great starting point for Jack Perry, but it doesn't feel like anything was accomplished before or after the break-up to get Perry where he is today. Its was clear the EVPs couldn't agree on the show's overall vision. Then when Tony Khan took full control over everyone's booking, that all went away and storytelling got even worse. If Cody or Dustin was appointed the one and only head booker at the very beginning, I feel so many problems could have been solved or prevented today. They need a roster small enough to provide weekly episodic TV and that would make fans want to tune in and be able to choose wrestlers who are their favorites that they'd also be able to see in person.

I agree Sammy’s suspension is ridiculous and very sus. Do they expect him to sit home for the rest of his contract? The longer it goes on, the worse it looks on TK. Also yes, they did Swerve dirty on Dynamite, and tweeting out the news of his segment on Collision the day after rather than promote it on Dynamite tells you it was nothing but damage control from the backlash. (No puns intended)

I wonder if they could combine the draft with an off season, post Wrestlemania? Have a few top people do promos etc, but no in ring action, meanwhile they take the time to try and introduce the new talent to the audience, maybe try to build up some of the midcarders to see if you can enough of the crowd behind them to elevate them. The thing I'd like to do with the draft is to have the two main brand shows have a list of people they're releasing to NXT, that the other brand can draft if they want. That talent then gets a few stories open to them, like being bitter at being sent down, or embracing it and looking to build up people around them, or maybe a redemption story if they get drafted to the other brand. The PPVs happening in Europe may be interesting in seeing how Gunther and Ludwig get treated by the fans. One thing that I'm curious with NXT Europe is if the crowds are going to be parochial, which could be a challenge for developmental wrestlers - do you want a young wrestler to consistently have one alignment? Or could it help them develop by having them change from heel to face depending on how the particular crowd is reacting?

I think people expected more of a Draft Lottery thing which I personally hated. I actually liked the draft it made sense to keep your big names as much as possible and then pick up midcarders from the other brand or go to NXT for someone. The way some fans acted it seems they just wanted Raw roster on Friday and Smackdown roster on Monday which would make no sense.

WWE expanding into Japan could be big. The main thing holding back Wrestling in Japan is that theres not a lot of money in it ever since NOAH's Yakuza scandal, which has caused a slow death spiral. Covid almost killed it. The great Muta did 45k in the Tokyo Dome last year. So there clearly is an audience for it if they can pump money into it and make more quality Japanese athletes go into wrestling. They just need to avoid the NXT branding, because that has minor leagues vibes.
@james26516 ай бұрын
The last time I checked tickets for a NJPW show in Tokyo the price was 11,000 yen. No lineup advertised except for tournament matches TBD. The Yokohama Marinos match I went to the same week was 3000 yen or so. The potential audience is there, especially the nostalgia, but they are taking the piss with their prices. It's not just football/soccer that is cheaper entertainment. Even the big theme parks are cheaper too.
@BigmanDogs6 ай бұрын
@@james2651 It's probably because they don't have the money to make a play toward investing in the product and try to reach mainstream popularity. So they instead have to milk the hardcore fans to stay afloat. WWE could theoretically invest in a Japanese company with what is chump change to them and completely dominate the market.

Well, mostly because F95 Zone did not let up, managed to listen to the whole thing before Hogwarts Legacy. And I will say this, Tony it feels like every time he takes a step forward, he falls 3 steps back. Like Tony selling his neck with the neck brace, that's some Old School stuff, like Andy Kaufman did, I could respect that, but then he made the Harvey Weinstein comment, thus the falling 3 steps back. It just shows WWE is living rent free in his head, and it's hurting his own company. If he not brought up WWE, that would have been the perfect moment to maybe get more eyeballs on AEW, but nope, he blew that chance by taking shots at WWE. Anyways, enjoyed listening to this, thank you for it.

AEW seems to think if they hit the right angle of slander that WWE will immediately decide making billions of dollars isn’t interesting anymore, so let’s close up shop and go away. When this is achieved, history will be rewritten by Dave Meltzer who will paint AEW as the only wrestling organization ever. The delusions of grandeur are absolutely outstanding.
