They were sent to LA to learn "real hip-hop", and, WARNING, it's really embarrassing and hard to watch, but also has some great moments too (Taehyung is absolutely adorable). The episodes are online but for some reason they're all low-quality. You can find them on dramanice for free.

YES! Thank you to Tony because I watched short clips of this experience BTS went through that I can not watch the “whole” experience of American Hustle due to some clips I found disheartening. An example is, a clip with a man named Dante, Jin and Yoongi. I don’t care to hear or read “there’s more to it. Watch the whole experience” because no matter what, all 7 members are so genuine and humble, so any slight mistreatment as an American toward BTS immediately embarrasses me to be a once foreigner, raised American BUT awesome of Tony to have bonded with Jimin.

It's quite normal in kpop in general. Only in western music it seems odd. When I started listening to kpop 7 years ago I thought idols were money hungry for doing solo activities and that a group should stick as a group. But quickly I realised how amazing it is for them to show their own colors while still working with their members.
