The Platters one of the great singing groups. Such a sad ending to Tony Williams who at one time had one of the most powerful and beautiful heartfelt voices.

Agreed. He obviously needed help but seemed to be treated more like a meal ticket.

I learned a lot more about singing because of him and he'll always remain to be one of my most famous singer of all time. Thanks, Mr. Tony Williams for giving me the hope to continue to broaden my perspective. God bless!

For some unknown reason I keep listening to this video. His voice is bad but there’s something that keeps me coming back.

If one has such a gift, it's not understandable how someone would abuse such a gift...however, he will ALWAYS be my most favorite male black singer.

This makes me so sad. I'll go look for their earlier recordings.

“My Prayer”was the best.!! A most beautiful song and tremendously difficult to hit those notes..🎶🍾

I recall seeing Tony and his Platters at an Academy of Music concert a few years before this one in which they did pehaps a half doxen or so songs and he still sounded amazing. There were at least 2 (if not 3) shows that night. But his movements and gestures were a bit strange, and at one point he fell down to the gorund then bounced up and went right back into the song. We all felt he was likely quite sloshed.

Every time I listen to him sing “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes” past 1960 he always sounds like he’s using a British accent of some sort. It’s just weird.

Yeah that is very strange, I always wondered why he did that

@@rem-so1lyThis concert just makes me sad. Such a beautiful voice, gone. Due to a stroke that’s why he sang out the side of his mouth. 💔
