Race is thee major factor. Racial groups are already going to support their own first, off the top. Vanilla Ice is a perfect example. He couldn’t rap a lick, but was out selling and out touring all the top black artists. He received more opportunities to go on mainstream media platforms, tv and radio, to promote his music. Was cast in a movie. White people are the number one consumers of rap music. Of course he’s going to out sell all the black artists. Eminem can rap. Is he really better than Wayne, Jay, Nas, Andre 3000, Tupac, Scarface, Busta? You can combine 3 or 4 top black artists and Eminem still has more sales. Is he really that much better than black artist? Of course course not. Does race have anything to do with it? Of course it does. I’m not saying it’s because of racism. White people make up 70% of the population here. They have 90% of the wealth. Eminem is more relatable to them, than black artists and their content. Vanilla Ice was more relatable to them as well.
