I love this musical ! I think it has a traditional American spirit. The woman standing the most right has a natural facial expression and great voice. But everyone of them are treasure. Sorry for my poor English (>

Tony Yazbeck is a terrific performer...the ultimate triple threat in theater. I have enjoyed watching him in several Broadway shows! BUT Douglas Sills simply can not be beat for his performance as the Scarlet Pimpernel. I saw him in both the Broadway production and then again in the tour that came through Seattle. I have seen over 70 shows on Broadway (I used to take tour groups in the summer) and his performance in The Scarlet Pimpernel stands heads and shoulders above any male lead I saw and I saw many of the top ones. He was electrifying! I truly have never seen anyone do anything to equal it in 50 years of theater going!

Tony Yazbeck in this song is his human self, as he was in Lucky to be Me. He is human and that is appealing. But Into the Fire requires the super-human, and Doug Sills had it. He was superman in that role. Wish I could have seen him on stage.

Watching/listening to Tony Yazbeck in this role makes me miss Douglas Sills. Tony is fine, but he lacks the spine-tingling passion and charisma and raw transcendent voice that Douglas had.

Hearing Douglas Sills on recording, I agree his voice has a greatness that Tony lacks. Tony is extremely talented, but he is softer in tone; Doug Sills was unequaled.

Saw this... it was good but could not hold a candle to the OBC (versions 1 AND 2). No one can top Douglas Sills in this role.

I agree. Just listened to the cast album for the first time in a few years on a plane trip. Saw the touring company perform the play and it remains one of my favorites. NEEDS a revival.

Alex Newell was born a dude, but dresses in drag, is gay, vocally sounds like a chick, and considers himself genderless. I agree, though. A [genderless] chick doesn't need to be a part of Percy's initial rag-tag merry band of men.
