It takes courage to be MYSELF in a world constantly trying to convince me that as a Black woman there's something wrong with me. It takes courage for me to not "go along to get along." It takes courage for me to embrace the things that bring me joy like solo hiking, nature photography, butterflies, moths, insects, mushrooms, edible plants, and more. It took courage for me to walk away from toxic jobs and choose myself!! I am courageously choosing things that elevate my life.

I once spoke to a woman that ran from a family in trauma into a marriage with trauma,( to divorce) and ultimately leave a boyfriend with trauma. Looking at the world thru the lense of survival, while carrying her trauma from relationship to relationship, she was a microcosm of society. The genesis of her condition( trauma)began with family and blossomed from there, not getting to the root of the problem won't fix the problem.
