Terry: Vanessa Mae mainly performs in Asia and Europe. I don't know when she last toured USA. I believe she still lives in Switzerland. As to her recording work, I've lost track of that a while ago. Her teen years, like this concert when she was only 18, are the ones that thrill me the most and esp the recordings in her mid teens e.g. "CHINA GIRL" with Butterfly Lover etc. That CD is one of my favorite collections of music. She was so musical.

Real people paid real money to pack the Birmingham Symphony Hall out for this performance of mainly Classical Violin music, hard thing to do in this day and age, the applause at the end says it all. Whatever KZbin critics say, its a hard road to get to the top and get big audiences to listen and watch violinists playing this type of music and also so much competition, so take this into consideration when making nasty comments about Vanessa Mae and other young musicians. I thought it was a really good entertaining concert, Bravo Vanessa Mae !!

V.M. is one of my favs. She is a lovely lady with broad talent and can really extend her ability to play the violin. I gave up music in high school due to a "prude" typical high school band teacher. Now, many years later, I am finally getting back to playing instruments hard core for myself. She and others like her have been a real inspiration. She has brought a new light to the violin and esp. the electric violin which is a different animal! Its a luxury to watch programs like this because you can hear enjoyable music but you can also repeat the video and study her hand positions to see why and how she played the piece. She is also a very pretty lady to look at. All around, a sensual pleasure!

This is almost like a complete chronology of instrumental music! She started out with some traditional, classical pieces like Brahms, Paganini, Schubert, Beethoven. Then a little Argentine melody. And then finally transitioned into more modern, contemporary pieces. Great concert!
