Jon Levin really knocks it out of the park. Superb guitar player. He plays George's parts with great respect while still doing his own thing. Great tone as well. I know he uses DiMarzio Tone Zone's in the bridge and Duncan Hot Rails in the neck. I haven't seen him playing one of his new strats yet so don't know what he's using in them, just the Charvels he played.

@@TonyFuentesTV Levin is great. He can sure hold his own. That's not an easy guitar slot to fill. But he kicks butt. He's actually a music contract lawyer and very well regarded as such. He's a real Buckaroo Banzai.

I love that Jon did his own take on the solo here.... He keeps the spirit of the solo and the key licks but embellishes and makes it his own. I thinks thats what playing in the style of Lynch is all about because George never plays the same solo twice.
@TonyFuentesTV10 күн бұрын
Absolutely! You nailed it! From my memory, Lynch played like Jon Levin does today back in 1984! Lynch was that fast and fiery and gooood! Then I guess age takes over and he matured his playing and slowed down and got more groovy LOL
@sammyt199510 күн бұрын
@@TonyFuentesTV You are right! George changed a little bit but it still sounds like him.. I would argue that he gets even more out of each note now when he plays... Certain techniques like his vibrato have continued to mature...
@NealVio10 күн бұрын
Jon Levin is no George Lynch. George set the bar extremely high and nobody can come close to those early days. BUT, I will admit he did a very good job with this solo, but not quite like the real thing. Great effort, you can hear the Lynch style which is needed if you're going to try to improvise, because again, very iconic solo.

It must not be easy being hired to imitate the style of the guitarist who was before you especially when it’s George Lynch. Kind of like Tommy Thayer being hired to look like and imitate Ace and not being able to be himself. Losing his individuality. Mr. Levin does have potential but he’s no George Lynch.

Well, he has heavy processing on the guitar -flanger and delay…he screws up the riff the second and third time through…tried copying George with flat 5s in solo etc…giving it a similar diminished feel a George Lynch trademark. Bass player is solid…guitar player is good.
