People say that George Lucas had the greatest downfall out of all the New Hollywood filmmakers when Coppola’s was arguably even lower. From The Godfathers, to Apocalypse Now, to The Conversation (you gotta see that), none of his films afterward have ever hit that mark, not even Dracula.

At least with Lucas you could argue he never actually had talent he just had good ideas that others helped him perfect. Coppola had talent but went so far up his own ass that when he got a film about Robin Williams as a 10 year old he couldn’t help himself and tried to make it deep, dark, artsy and philosophical

It's my understanding that Coppola ended up directing this because of several very expensive duds that put him under a lot of debt.

I grew up in the 90's. I didn't have any trees in my backyard, but I did have what amounted to a treehouse. Two platforms connected by a rope bridge, about 10ft in the air.

The Simpsons also lives in kind of an anachronistic world where clown kids shows like Bozo are still a thing which they weren't by the 90s. Also, they have 1950s style mafia. The thing is The Simpsons was and is (fight me) actually good on a level Jack never was.

@@TonyGoldmark yeah the Simpsons and many other 90s tv shows and films had treehouses in them which is why I always wanted one as a kid, neither myself nor any kid I knew actually had one however.

Benjamin Button is a great short story. It actually starts out hilarious, BB achieves things and becomes a man of great reputation. The ending is inevitably sad, but because you understand who Ben was, it hits waaaaay harder than you think. Fitzgerald 1, Coppola 0

I am autistic myself and I really dislike it when certain people lump me and others in the same category as Chris Chan because to me that sounds like generalization, like you're just judging someone based on how they acted.

Hey Tony, have you seen the Benjamin Button movie, and if so, what are your thoughts? For me, while it was initially too slow and tedious in the first half, the moment Benjamin meets Captain Mike and goes out to sea, the film picks up and the story becomes more interesting, as he travels the world, rekindles his relationship with his childhood friend Daisy, with the two having good chemistry, romance, and work well off each other, the cinematography and music was beautiful, the acting from everyone, particularly from Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, was excellent, and it’s one of my favourite movies that I frequently watch when I need cheering up or feel any doubt about my future. Compared to emotionally manipulative films like Jack and especially the terribly pretentious Bicentennial Man, it did the whole “Main character goes on a journey and experiences life all the way to his death”, a lot better and more genuine.

Yeah, I liked it a lot too. I especially liked the sequence about all the random chance that led to Cate Blanchett getting hit by a car.

Well, whaddya know. Apparantly a lot of the creative people I admire have asperger, just like me. And I love your talking about how people use it as an excuse because I know that I can sometimes make my wording difficult because of my autism, especially in written arguments in the comment sections of videos like these (hell, even know I'm trying to find the right wording). And often, when things have either gone way out of hand or really confusing, I tell to people: "Hey, don't take this the wrong way. I didn't want to start an argument, but I have autism and had difficulty wording what I wanted to say." (not that exact sentence, but you get the point). But when I write that, I do sometimes think that others think that I'm using it as an excuse. Basicly I want to say, I understand the problem and have experienced in the opposite way you describe in this video.

I was waiting for this one! I must confess, I actually liked this movie as a kid because of the hijinks and pretty much the first half. However, I kinda see your point of saying it's for no one because that maudlin second half was such a turn-off back then.
