Keelung M. Hongdan is listed as one of Taiwan's Top 100 Suburban Mountains. It was also one of the defense lines of the Qing army during the Qing-French War more than a hundred years ago. There are still historical relics near the top of the mountain. There is a pair of stone fox statues near the triangle point of Hongdanshan. They were originally koma foxes of Suehiro Inari Shrine in Keelung during the Japanese reign era. The original site of the Suehiro Inari Shrine is located at the end of Lane 37 of Ren 1st Road, which was within the scope of Keelung Red Light District during the Japanese reign era.
