I frequently travel between Asheville and Raleigh, on I-40, and always tune in when I'm passing through Valdese. I know the AM frequency was dark for awhile. I'm glad the station has returned to the airwaves. BUZZ

I can identify with a lot that Eddie said. But I never went Pro, I've always just done it as a hobby and never made a dime doing it (it cost me money.) I got a 4 inch reel tape recorder in 1962 and started recording pretend radio shows. The only people that ever heard them were family members and a few friends from around the neighborhood. In the mid 1970's I started running a 2KW pirate station from a van, broadcasting from wire dipole antennas hung in trees on mountain tops around where I lived, never broadcasting from the same location more than one night. In 1987 the FCC caught up with me, so I moved my station to the internet (where FCC has no jurisdiction.) There was no software back then for doing that so I wrote my own. I could only have 2 listeners at a time, but I had regular listeners from all over the world. I too play only music from my personal collection, which I've been building for decades. I very rarely play anything from a commercially released album, for copyright reasons, especially if it is currently available to purchase. I like to find out what my listeners want to hear, then play something they've probably never heard before. Thirty-some years later I'm still running that little internet radio station :>

Once upon a time you needed a fcc series 3 broadcast license in order to get behind a microphone, has this all changed? I have a great interest in doing a radio show, if at all possible at my home location . Is this really possible to do a specialized radio show for 3 or 4 hours every friday night as an example? Can you help me fill this dream I've had for almost 55 years? ?

I just watched the whole thing Tony. Very interesting, but you pick Australia over Texas and Colorado? ;-) I may get his app and start listening. I like supporting the little guy against the corporate America types. Very well done interview. How did you get such good audio and what cameras did you use? Was it GoPro's? Give us some specs here.
@tonyleeglenn
@tonyleeglenn 6 жыл бұрын
Love it that you watched this Danny. I think you'd really like their music. About the audio. It was sort of a fail on my part. I had a Zoom H1 on Eddie (it worked). I had a Zoom H1 on me, but I think I just forgot to hit the record button, so no close mic on me. I had a Sony AX33 camcorder pointed at me, so some the audio from me came from that cam which was about 5 feet away. I had a Sony A6500 on Eddie - but it was only about 20 inches in front of me, so I mixed that audio with the audio from the AX33 to get my sound. It was a mess to do it that way, but was my best option. I had a GoPro Hero5 for the wide shot, but it sounded terrible. I just muted it. I had a different angle with a Hero4 - but for some reason the battery died within a few minutes. Thanks for asking about the tech stuff - and thanks for checking in on my channel!

@@tonyleeglenn I am always happy to contribute to a good channel and great guy. I asked about the audio because I thought it was very well done. Sounds like you had a fight on your hands with it, but you beat it and came out on top. I love the back and forth angles and that really works too. My Hero 5 does not have great audio. I use a Tascam recorder for audio and it easily beats the GoPro audio by a 1,000 times. Thanks for sharing the video and the tech background. I could see me doing this type of thing in the future.

I live in Mississippi. I don’t believe there should be a city or town you can drive through without being able to find a decent blues/rock station. Oh man, what a waste of beautiful music culture. You know, music where people could make their instruments sing as well as the vocalist! I’ve been all over the state and can only really find that stuff on MPR...public radio. I donate to them but still... it’s not the same thing as having dedicated stations.
