My a7rIV is my main camera and my a7c is my backup/travel camera. The idea of having a backup that will shoot as well as my main camera is appealing. Having a travel camera that I can combine with a compact prime like my 50mm 2.8 for travel is also appealing. I am with Tony on this one.

The speed of Imaging Edge, Sony's photo app, isn't the main problem. Getting it to connect the first time and staying connected is the issue.
@25eazi
@25eazi Жыл бұрын
image edge disconnects if you try to view photos on camera. If you view on your tablet or phone it works almost flawless. I use it and it has great range. Now the creators app allows the transfer of raw files and allows you to view photos on camera without disconnecting. It does disconnect randomly being it is a newer app and not quite as refine as image Edge is.

These make great street/travel/backup cameras to their bigger brothers. I would not use these as a main camera though due to the low screen resolution, tiny EVF, 1 SD card slot, and no joystick. These simple things make the whole user experience so much better but are forgivable as a second camera.

I have Sony a7r4a and I absolutely love it, image quality is beyond amazing .Besides all these high megapixel cameras have been based upon a previous sensor, that was produced back in 2019. It's pretty much about marketing, but those nice flip out screens and videos specs are worth mentioning without any doubt, however, in terms of image quality there hasn't been any significant upgrade ever since

Thank you for the video. While the view finders are the same resolution as the A7C the magnification is not. Also the rear LCD is a little higher resolution and neither version supports 1/8000 shutter like the bigger brother they were derived from. Also as others asked how would the C II compare to the A6700 feature for feature and with a lens set that is appropriately sized for each body.

@@Citizenflaba People following the channel know it's about the latest AF tests. I'm surprised that the none of my usual reviewers (Damien Bernal, Amazing Nature Alpha, Northrups) made an actual AF test. Jared Polin did, but it's more a tracking test. Tracking already works great on the A7iv, but focusing does not for fast moving subjects.I would have liked to see if the A7cii is an improvement there.

I have gone back to my Sony Gear...Now I use two original A7c (used) and an even older A7s (...great for night work) for all my street/work/play/etc. I am an American retired in the wonderful city of Bangkok...(Thanks for your revue on Zooms a while recently) I will be purchasing a Sony fe 200-600/5.6-6.3 for my street/planes/boats/animals/etc fun in a couple of months...I presently own the fe70-200/4 which serves me just fine for up close work. Cheers P.S. I cant believe Panasonic pumped out something like the S9 for the video folks without first upgrading the small GX9 in M43....

Great video, thanks for the great first look into these cameras. Hope to hear a bit more about over heating test results in a future in-depth review. Also, I know battery life is taking a HUGE hit (540/510 CIPA vs. 740/680 CIPA in the original A7C) which is both expected but still disappointing. Would also be interested to know if A7C2 suffers from what some users have complained about noise in shadow details and also not as sharp eye AF when using wide open apertures as the A7IV? Finally, do you think it’s worth upgrading from the original A7C to A7C2 for photography?

Dear, I would like to ask You a question…. I have a Sony camera A7R3- system-version 3.10 and I would like to ask you if the following is possible with this camera with a Sony 85mm F1.8 lens and aperture maybe set on F 5.6. I would like to make a timelapse/interval shooting, let’s say every 3 seconds a shot over a period of 30 seconds (10 shots in total) with myself in the picture walking towards the camera itself on tripod….. with eye-autofocus ON and real time tracking ON… and nobody pressing any button on the camera except myself pressing start and running towards my startpoint … I start walking at 25 meter distance… walk slowly towards the camera and looking into the lens…. After 30 seconds I’ll be at 1 meter distance away in front of the camera….. I’ll be happy with maybe 5 or 6 sharp pictures…. Of the total 10 pics…. I am trying but donot succeed… I cannot find the right settings …. I presume that my 6-year old Sony A7R3 cannot do this…. But…which Sony camera could do this? Maybe the Sony A7R4 or A7R5 or A7CR or… none these… ??? Do I have to switch brands? I try to find answers on the web… but I find nothing in clear detail about this item… Please advise me! Thank You so much for your time! Greetings, Jan van Roekel - Aruba - DWI Whatsapp +2977408131

Tony, what are the tweaks you refer to in the video for reducing noise and increasing sharpness on the A7CR when shooting at high ISO? In-camera or in post-processing?
@EmilWall
@EmilWall Жыл бұрын
Post-processing, most likely. Lower resolution sensors produce less noise SOOC whereas higher res generally produces a better noise-to-signal ratio which means if you apply noise reduction you can get more details with the same amount of noise as with a lower res sensor.

Now that full frame sensors have 60 megapixels, the pixel pitch is about the same as a 20 megapixel M43 sensor, and is smaller than the pixels on many APS-C sensors. Do the 60 megapixel sensors have dynamic range more in line with the smaller M43 sensors, or is there something more to the relation between pixel size and dynamic range than that?

They are certainly less expensive than other FF Sony models. But to achieve the price point they dropped essential features (video specs, crap EVF, no joystick, single card slot...) and still priced them at $2,200 and $3,000 respectively. Add a decent lens and this gets very close to a Leica Q3. Ok, it's a fixed lens, but superior by a mile in every other way.

I don’t know if I’d sell my a7r5 for the a7cr but I like that idea of cropping with a prime. I have a 20 and 35 f1.8 I think would be good for travel. But that price! I think I could achieve what I want with both the a7cii and maybe the a6700….1400 is very tempting.

I don’t think they really cover Fuji here. They tend to push full frame.

What needs to be fixed: eye cup option for evf, fully articulating screen (a7v), dual card slots, ( even microSD ). Also wtf is going on with those abysmal e-shutter speeds? Cmon Sony

Is the A7CII covering the HUGE hole in Canons lineup, and is it going to convert me from a forever Canon guy?? ROFL yes Silver is the ONLY option!!!

It could be interesting to see a comparison between a Leica Q3 and a Sony A7cR with a 24mm/1.4; a Leica Q2 would do. Cropping-in to 35 mm , 50 mm and 75 mm on both cameras. Thank you

In my opinion they should have made the bold choice to sync the name numeral with the cameras they're based on. This is just confusing.
@TonyAndChelsea

Yeah that would make a lot of sense. Or at least make them the a7C II and a7C II R. It's going to get really bad when we have the a7 V, a7C III, a7R VI and a7C II R? Or will the roman numerals go before the R? God help me.

Sony's low light noise is very unsightly for some reason. Canon does a much better job at it, it looks smooth and pleasing

Look at the size of it. 😮 The audacity that Fujifilm isn't making a smaller aps-c camera right now with that tiny mount. 😂 I have all this XF glass and no body because they only want to sell me the kitchen sink. C'mon Fuj if you're not going to even have great AF with all that bulk, at least take a page from Sony's book, and appeal to your EDC base again. Give me an X-M2 or an X70S. 🙏

Yeah, if you accept not to have a zoom and you are ready to work with a couple of primes, one on the cam the other in your pocket. As soon as you put a zoom on those, they're not compact anymore. That's the beauty of full frame.

Yeah, after we made the video, I began to second-guess my choice to travel with the a7CR. The viewfinder just isn't fun to use and that's part of the experience for me. I'm also paranoid about having only a single card slot... Would hate to lose my pics. But then it's so small and cute! I dunno.

@@TonyAndChelsea Why can't we just have cameras upload their stuff to the cloud instantly anyway? How hard is it to add a sim-card slot and make it upload your photos (at least JPEG backups) in the background. While they're at it, why is file system encryption not an option yet in 2023?

A cellular radio is a battery hog, even more so when you're out of network area and it has to search for or connect to a weak signal. Not so ideal for camera, however they should put an optional variant for people who really want it.

@@vivekanand2588 Well if a modern phone can get days of standby-time, so can a camera. It can be opt-in for those who need it. It can save a lot of time as well, as you could browse your cloud pictures directly on your phone or PC before you even connect the camera to your laptop.

I feel like canon not raising the price at all on its R6 mark 2 was sufficient lol the screen and evf are also usable for checking focus and bright so that’s nice. Both manufacturers seem to be focused on different things to differentiate. Sony with all these bodies that each have pros and cons. Canon just starting to widen the field with bodies and readying the second iterations of all its mainline mirrorless bodies
