I ran into the same issue. It’s the pins that are talking to the camera. The solution I found was cutting a bandaid (I’m sure any kind of tape that isn’t clear that covers the pins will work) to cover the pin spots on the camera so that when you slide the trigger on, ONLY the middle pin is connecting. It works perfectly now. I have flash power as well as exposure simulation. Hope this helps.

We tried that, but couldn’t find any tape/etc that would still fit in the hot shoe. Not to mention, should we HAVE to do that in order to make the thing work correctly?

I just cut mine down to fit with an xacto knife. It’s been there for like 5-6 months now with no issues or unsticking. I get that we shouldn’t HAVE to, however currently we do have to and this solution will work until we don’t have to.

Haha. I tried the same thing! But we have to swap between cameras and stuff. So it was a total PITA. I was going to open it up and just pull the unused pins.

There you go. I’d be interested to see a video of a pin extraction. Maybe my comment will help someone out there that’s about to lose their mind because of this situation. Haha. A bandaid and an xacto knife have kept my workflow going.

Hi Tony, Thank you for your video. I have been chasing a nondedicated air trigger for a Profoto C1 Plus to fire from a Leica body, I have been unsuccessful until I saw your video which gave me hope. The universal air trigger with one pin seems to be what I am looking for. Can you give me the model number or something to go and check one out.

Hi Tony! Recently came across this issue with my Air TTL remote. Even when the thing is switched off it cancels out exposure preview - making it very hard to balance strobe with ambient. Annoyingly my Godox remote does allow me back into exposure preview mode when its switched off, so I just flick the remote off and set my ambient that way. With Profoto I have to remove the trigger completely.

Yea. I don’t know what Profoto’s deal is. Total PITA. I wish they would push a firmware update to fix.

Tony - I just watched your video and tried it on my Canon EOS R5. For me, it worked when I turned off the Connect. But it seemed to get confused sometimes if I switched it on and off.

Exactly. Manual is not manual. It should disable all pins but one when it’s in manual.

Hi Tony, not sure if it’s on your camera but on some I believe there is a camera setting to tell it to still give you a exposure simulation. Some older Canon DSLRs if I remember correctly require a half press of the shutter button to do that in live view. Either way it’s a shame Profoto didn’t take in your request. Could do better there

Exposure simulation is ON. You’ll see me demonstrate it in the video. When I switch the trigger to AUTO or MANUAL, you’ll see me demonstrate that Exp Sim stops working. I think it will give me a quick preview of the exposure sim if I half press the shutter, but that’s shit. I don’t want to stand there holding down the shutter button when I’m trying to setup a shot. Especially if I’m using the CamRanger or something where I’m not near the camera. I just want Profoto to make it stop disabling my exposure simulation.
