Interesting I have persimmon trees in my yard on a property I purchased along with five mature pecans. I mean all of these trees are well over 60 years old and the persimmons that come off of these trees are smaller than what appeared in the video but they still had four seeds one so I’ve got about 35 or 40 seeds right now and I’m going to pop them all and see what I can get started And they good they’ll be Christmas gifts to friends and neighbors who loved them along with some pecan seedlings. Two of my trees have really big pecans. They’re like three times the size of a normal one and then the other three are normal pecans and I typically get approximately 40 gallons worth of pecan seeds in a season, and that’s what the tree rats for me lol they start tearing into before the husk is even starting to turn brown. They cut them off and start chewing through the green husk and realize it’s better and spit it out and drop it the two hurricanes this year backed back, also blew a lot of the immature pecans off the trees so I look for my pecan production this year to be significantly less, but I’m hoping to get the germinated to thanks for the video

that looks too good to be true. i can't even germinate wild persimmon for root stock in the same year.

When did you transfer the four trees to one and how deep of pot did you use? Did you eventually plant in ground? This is two years later, how is the plant today? I have several pots of 6 trees and want to keep them all until I put them in the ground this fall. I cannot find information on how and if I can transplant them to bigger pots while I harden them off and prepare to plant them. Thank you in advance for an answer.

I have limited space , so I planted a 20 gallon pot right after this video taken and guess what is flowering for this first time this season. Given is a tree, you must plant to the ground, that is the best way to grow persimmon. I wish youtube allow reply in picture, else I can snap picture to show you

@TonysExploration8 ай бұрын
The growth rate very much depend on two things ..the nutrient and of course temperature. If the temperature is correct, then make sure the soil pH is correct , so all the nutrients can be absorbed properly . The rest is just waiting for the plant to grow

Hello Tony, thanks for your video. I tried growing last season from seeds and all came up, however, these were planted in premium potting mix. I found that they had leaves that curled down and did not grow quickly. They seemed stunted and after 1 year, they are still only 10cm tall. I have now re-potted them into different soil and noticed that the stems were quite deep. Can this be part of an issue?
@TonysExploration8 ай бұрын
Peaceful curl means something wrong, the first step I would check is soil pH and drainage
@lifeofintention47118 ай бұрын
@@TonysExploration Thank you, think drainage has been the hardest due to the potting mix composting down to thick sticky soil... think it is stopping air and holding moisture too long, but hard to tell. I've swapped the potting mix now in most of the seedlings and will see if it improves, but going into it winter it may go dormant and not grow much. Thanks again.
@TonysExploration8 ай бұрын
@@lifeofintention4711 I often add in lots of perlite to the potting mix. Even the pre-pack premium potting mix, I found that the ratio of perlite still not enough for good drainage. The way I approach gardening is always 1) good drainage ( do it right at the first step, repotting always stress the plant) 2) correct pH . Once these two are in ideal condition, the rest is just fertilizer and pest control.

I’ve found a seed here and there (3) from pounds of Fuyu persimmon my kiddo gorged on 2 winters ago - all 3 germinated around a month+ stuck in diff pots in peat moss on a heating pad (cold stratified then peat moss). But i accidentally broke each one. This past winter i found 2 more seeds but smaller, didn’t think they were viable but stuck them into random pot anyways, I now have 2 that are just sprouting that I had apparently stuck into my Michelia Alba pot outside back Dec/Jan and forgotten, got a surprise find yesterday when I was air-layering a couple of branches on my Michelia Alba. 🤩🕺Gonna put a clear plastic cup over each to prevent accidentally snapping them this time around….
