The 1986 Mustang SVO gets elevated with some hard work and very little money. I wet sand & buff, the trim gets painted and a few more maintenance items get checked off the list. A 60 mile round trip is slated as a test drive.

Hi Tony, nice work there m8! I hear you on the sunroof thing, my SVO has t-tops, so a couple of layers on dark tint on the glass will stop the 'chrome dome' tan!! Also, since you car is an '86 it should only have an in-tank fuel pump. 84-85 cars had duel pumps. Lastly, you car appears to have a the single wing, or bi-wing delete, which was an option in '86 with less than 300 being built that way. If you look at the buck tag on the core support, on the fourth line after 'AC' you should see an 11 or 12. 11 = Bi-wing delete, 12 = Bi-wing.

Tony , URE a Rock Star. Love the SVO. My daddy worked at a Ford Dealer and we had been looking for cars. He always said, Son if you get a Ford Daddy can help you. Someone traded on a 1984 GT T-Top Grey with 40K Miles.. We are talking 1985. I had only driven a stick with my uncle a few times in his 64 Mustang 6 cylinder LOL . My Daddy called me from work one- day and said someone traded in a nice looking 1984 GT and I will Co-Sign for you just come and get it. Don't even remember how I got there but when they handed me the Key I had no idea how to really drive a stick. But I just did it and it was a AWESOME MUSTANG until it was stolen in 1986. But I still have much love for the SVO especially the Fox-Body Models. Thanks

Thanks for taking us along with the clean up Tony. For the sunroof, I had a 79 pace car back in the day and if I remember right it had a removable panel to block the sun. Might be able to find one of those somewhere. Gread video as always.👍

Love your work here. I have a bit of a well used 86 5.0/5speed notchback I rescued from the junkyard so, I've made it as nice as it can be. have used the POR15 many times. It works well, is reasonably forgiving . It needs scuffing before applying any other paint product over it.

One thing that I've used over the years that can really make old paint look new is Nu Finish. It's cheap and easy to find. Apply it about twice a year and it can make old, fading paint look new.

Thanks! I used to wear hats all the time and it the winter I still do. In the summer I find them too hot to wear. Absolutely Priest! It is a 1986 so you should roll period correct music.

It is a factory single wing. Late production.

Yes, it can get worse. Turn one large dent into lots of little dents. It looks great

If I do that I'll have to paint the panel anyway. It's pretty bad now and a lot of little dents are easier to fill. I'm starting on it tomorrow.

I'm using what I have and the paint looks good on video but it pretty weak overall. I guessing it was painted in the early 2000's. All that matters is the results and if I'm happy with them right?

I replaced all the brake fluid in all my old mistangs..i had to use a hand vacuum pump to get the fluid to flow..it wouldn't gravity bleed.but its the same principle.
