Continental Mark IV Was Longer Better?

The Continental Mark III was a success for Ford motor company. The Mark III was 216 inches long and was the longest two door car Ford had ever built when introduced, however the Mark IV was to be even longer and measured in at a full 230 Inches length. Would a longer car lead to higher sales for the Lincoln Mercury division?
