I just love the tekton hard handle drivers! They feel so 'right' in the hand. I'm kinda hoping that Tekton comes out with a set of thin profile wrenches. Interesting discovery- or I noticed last week. I have had a 6 in one screwdriver in a kitchen draw for years & years. I believed I picked it up at a NAPA at the counter, andbought it because I think it was 6 bucks maybe but felt decent. It's always had a quality feel, and I didn't mind not going for a 'real' SDriver 'cause it worked so well. The other day I noticed it was marked made by MIT. Now that SDriver is maybe 15 years old, made when I believe Tekton was still named MIT (I Think Michigan Industrial Tools)

Nice overview. In the last year or so as I have added new tools or upgraded, I have thrown Tekton into the mix. A little bit of everything, 90 tooth ratchets, screwdrivers (hard handle). impact sockets, pliers (including locking). All well made. Good quality at a good price. Love those slim 90 tooth ratchets. Unfortunately I added some 3/8 drive impact sockets not too long before they added the stamping. But I haven't had any problems with laser etching on the Tekton or any of the much older and more used Craftsman so I will survive. I really like that they are expanding their made in USA offerings. It will keep me coming back, even if the particular item I need may not be USA made. The company should be supported for that effort.
@TonyTheTechnician3 жыл бұрын
Thank you and that's great to hear and ya even the older style tekton impact sockets are still great sockets. And I also love the slim 90 tooth Ratchets. I agree. I'm glad they keep expanding the USA tools and are trying to bring more and more to the table.

Never left a comment on KZbin before. But I couldn't even imagine where I'd be without people like you taking your time to give people like me the insight that takes time, trial and error, and money to have. I really appreciate you man and its awesome to think how many people I'm sure feel the same way. I stumbled into turning wrenches 6 years ago, started running heavy equipment for an excavation company and kinda found myself turning wrenches. Was never really mechanically inclined, but I love learning new things and working on big equipment and dumptrucks really felt gratifying as a young man. But I had no knowledge really, and limited resources so for what its worth I've kinda taught myself. And more than any other resource, these guys on KZbin have really made it easy for me to learn. I tell all the young bucks, all you have to do is want to learn, you have a vast, if not limitless, library of information right at your fingertips. With that out of the way, I just started buying my own set of tools. I looked at tekton because all I ever grab is the set of tekton impact sockets they have. Beat the hell out of them for the past 6 years, working on peterbilts, excavators, dozers, front end loaders you name it. Never had an issue. But i don't have money to toss around, and even putting together a cheap set of tools is expensive, to me at least. You definitely gave me reassurance that I was making the right choice. And to anybody who's read this far this is my 2 cents if you ain't heard it already. Get as much as you can for your money first, within reason. Then you have options for most things you'll come across. If you use something enough or hard enough that it fails you. Then you can justify going with a more expensive option. Tools for the most part are an investment. I appreciate you guiding us along.

Hey tony. You said something very interesting when talking about ratchet wrenches. You said that 12 point was better for tight spaces than 6 point. All my years of wrenching i never heard that. Why is 12 point better than 6 point for tight spaces? Wouldnt a 10mm 6 point wrench be the same size as a 10mm 12point wrench?
@TonyTheTechnician3 жыл бұрын
Yes they are the same fitment. Sorry I should have clarified a little more. What I meant was when in a tight space it's easier to get the 12 point on the fastener then a 6 point bc it has more locations around the 12 points to fit on the fastener. Where a 6 point it may not line up just right and you may need to rotate the 6 point a few clicks to get it onto the fastener. Sorry it's hard to explain. And a little easier to show. So I hope that makes sense.

♦️Tony - this is a very serious question. Based on several KZbin videos, including your videos, I have transitioned to TekTon hand tools for most of the tools they offer as I upgrade, and give many of my lower end tools to my children. Top on that list of what I have purched and continue to purchase is wrench and socket sets. I’m trying to purchase more, but I can’t. I’m ready to buy the larger assortment set of deep, SAE + Metric, impact sockets on rails. The website has said no stock, but back in stock in 1-2 weeks. Okay, this has been 8 weeks now. So, move on. I want that 1/4” chrome set on rails. Short / standard, again SAE + Metric, on rails. No stock. Okay, how about chrome 3/8, deep, SAE + Metric on rails? None. Chrome 3/8”, shallow, SAE + Metric on rails? None. Big, deep, impact sets on rails? Had said no stock, now its no longer on the website. I assume they want me to buy the cases then seperate rails then toss away thier case. This feels like a company on credit hold from its suppliers. I understand backorders, that happens, but not on eveything but oddball stuff. I honestly fear investing into this companies tools due to my perception they are close to permidently closing their doors. My question to you Tony, do you have insight into TekTon’s current financial position?
@DougAlesUSA3 жыл бұрын
@TonyTheTechnician its even worst then I stated above. I went back, trying to build the 3/8” deep, impact, rail, SAE + Metric set by purchasing separate rails then the rail holder. Can’t even do that without having it be incomplete. Man, Tony, this does not look good.
